  1. Note how no openly gay or bisexual men were given awards at the Grammys. We complain bitterly about homophobes in the Republican Party but we hardly utter a murmur against the entrenched homophobia in the music industry.

  2. Amazing post. Thanks!

  3. @ Jason

Maybe that has something to do with the fact, that the music industry leaves us alone, while Republicans are actively working against us.

  4. With Adele the enchantment of real song steps over the refuse bin of rap and reasserts itself. A triumph of human potential (and something the English do so well).

  5. I've always wondered how the Brits produce such a huge percentage of music giants given their fairly small population.

  6. Jason, do you ever enjoy anything?

  7. Jason: can you name one who did anything worthy of a Grammy this year?

  8. @KAMIKAPSE

I wouldn't say the music industry leaves us alone. There are lots of homophobic song lyrics, even today.

  9. LOVE her, but her best performance I've still ever seen is her at the Brit Awards. She was stunning.

  10. It was far from the best video of the the year (none of the nominees was except Weird Al: I would nominate Lady Gaga, LMFAO, Gotye, Lonely Island, Hedley, or Ricky Martin).

But for everything else, YAY ADELE!

Funniest interview of her ever is ALan Carr's CHATTYMAN

  11. Great to see somebody like this girl recognized. She has loads of talent, a beautiful, jarring voice, and perhaps best of all, a great deal of integrity to boot.

  12. Just because no openly gay or lesbian people received Grammy awards this year does not mean that it hasn't happened. Off the top of my head, here's a brief list of gay and lesbian people who have won Grammy awards:
    George Michael
    Melissa Etheridge
    Elton John
Freddie Mercury (with, of course, Queen)
Rob Halford (with his band Judas Priest)
    Ricky Martin
