Scott Lively Says Gay Rainbow Flag a Sign of the End Times: VIDEO

Pastor Scott Lively delivered a sermon called "The Global Threat of Homosexuality" at Resurrection Life of Jesus church in Sacramento recently that warned that the Gay Pride flag is a sign that society is on the verge of collapse, Right Wing Watch reports.

Said Lively:

When you see the gay pride parade going down the street in the major cities, what banner are they flying over them? They're flying the banner of the rainbow. What is the rainbow? The rainbow is God's covenant with man never to destoroy the Earth by water again ...

...In fifty years we have seen this tiny group of people - they really only represent about two percent of the population - that has grown from being a reviled subculture to now having more power in the legislatures and courtrooms of the world than the Christian church does. In fifty years! Nothing has ever grown that fast globally, nothing. Not Islam, not Darwinism, not Marxism, nothing has ever grown that fast. Which shows you that this is a spiritual phenomenon that is unparallelled and that's why God has selected it, singled out this particular behavior to be the indicator of extreme apostasy, the furthest edge of deviance and the warning sign that things are in really, really bad shape.

  1. The worst part of dealing with people like this is some of them are paranoid, and may actually take up arms and shoot people whom they consider unlike themselves, not that it hasn't happened already.

BTW, it helps if you read books other than the Bible.

  2. I thought these people are supposed to be happy about the end times, you know, the rapture and everything. All the "good" bible thumpers being called to "heaven." why should they care who or what ushers it in?

  3. These expressions of ignorance from religious nuts like Lively are a "warning sign that things are in really, really bad shape" for magical thinking homophobes.

  4. This guy is the north end of a southbound horse. A true poster boy for atheism. Keep up the good work Scotty!

  5. According to the logic of the convicted woman-assaulting Lively, Jesse Jackson and Kermit the Frog are also signs of the coming apocalypse.

  6. I only wish we had all the power that this paranoid grifter thinks we have. The world would be a much better place.

  7. Blake Lively should sue this idiot, as he's sullying her family name.

  8. These people feed on fear and they promote fear and spread fear.

    Fear is the new religion.

  9. Atta boy, Scotty! Whatever it takes to keep the money rolling in and remain somewhat relevant to the idiot faithful. You do understand that if you keep this up you'll eventually have to move so far to the right that you'll have to condone mobs roaming the streets slaughtering gays for sport? But, hey, what's a few lynchings so long as you're in the limelight and doing God's work! I'm surprised it took you so long to get around to the gay flag, but I guess when you're busy assaulting women, inciting Ugandans and Russians to murder us and writing totally indefensible histories about gay nazis it's catch as catch can.

But one question that's doggin' me, if I'm an indicator of extreme apostasy (a sobriquet which causes my chest to swell with pride, by the way) does that supersede my being an intrinsic moral evil? Or do they work hand in hand? Have you talked to the pope about this? Maybe you guys need to work harder at staying on message. Would it be clearer if I was also a nazi? Oh wait, the pope was a nazi. I'm so confused... OK, could we just condense all of this down to... erm, a moral outrage? What do you think? Easier to fit on a poster, no doubt about it.

  10. "A reviled subculture"...Did Jesus revile subcultures? Using "revile" to describe the actions of Jesus is contradictory. It shows only Lively's self-interest, not the beliefs of Jesus and his campaign for love.

  13. Scoot - Because they don't believe their BS. They're afraid of losing power. Culturally-accepted homosexuality is a pretty strong antidote to religious fundamentalism.

  17. Considering that homosexuals have been around since humanity began I would call it a slow burn...

  18. I love how the premise he thinks is radically backwards isn't the by and large fact-based cultural acknowledgement that homosexuality is perfectly normal and natural, but that homosexuality is "just another" sin.

  20. scott lively represents the intolerance, prejudices and myths of the past. He is clinging to anti-gay prejudices because it is the last area of intolerance to fall. Even he sees just how fast his prejudice and bigotry are falling. I live in center city Philadelphia in an area often called "the gaborhood" because of the large number of gay and gay friendly people and establishments that call it home. I am looking out my window at an official city street sign with a rainbow flag design right under it. scott, your time of bigotry, prejudice, gloom and doom is just about over. Say Amen scott.

  21. If rainbow flags signal the end of times, what exactly does a gilt edged big pink crucifix denote? Yea, like the one behind you..

  22. Speaking as a European (who in this man's universe are probably on about the same devilish level as the gays) this type of stuff worries me, the vilification of a minority group in society was what Hitler was all about.

For "gay" read "jewish" and you will understand what I mean.

This is a fascist rant, nothing more and nothing less, it was how the Nazi party got support and into power. Treat this type of stuff with extreme caution.

  23. This doesn't make any sense.
Doesn't the rainbow appear when god ended the flood?
    Am I wrong?

  24. i just love how these guys keep talking about how the culture of understanding toward LGBT people is going to make "God Angry"

as if "God" wasn't already angered enough by the centuries of slavery, then segregation, the subjugation of women, the Holocaust....

...you know. stuff like that. God apparently didn't mind. He's too busy being upset that Deb & Sue wanna tie the knot after 30 years together.
