  1. Unfortunately, within the well-intentioned, moving story about the personal love and public advocacy for equality of Mr. O'Donnell and Mr. Banta, the article's author, a sometime NYT "education reporter" and despite a Harvard degree demonstrates how stupid she is about the topic, giving the Old Gray Lady Alzheimer's in the process. QUOTE—"But in 1978, all of that was beyond unthinkable: That an openly gay man could be voted into office. That two men would be able to one day marry." Gay elected officials and marriage equality were deep in the thoughts of many LONNNNNNNNG before 1978. Out Jose Sarria ran for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1961. Out Frank Kameny ran for Congress in 1971. Out Jim Owles ran for the New York City Council in 1973. And...wait for it...drum roll...Harvey Milk was elected in 1977. Rev. Troy Perry "wed" a gay male couple in 1969, and filed a lawsuit for marriage equality in California the next year, while, in Minnesota, Jack Baker and Michael McConnell applied for a marriage license, were denied, and filed a similar lawsuit. In 1971, their relationship and legal fight were profiled in a special issue of then-major mainstream magazine Look about "The American Family." That same year, as documented in the video at the link below, Gay Activists Alliance of New York zapped the city marriage license bureau because its chief was threatening to try to have a local minister prosecuted for "marrying" gay couples. Again, this is meant to take nothing from the O'Donnell-Bantas, and I accept that the author meant well. But good intentions never excuse lazy ignorance in someone paid to write facts nor their cavalier erasing of the lives of courageous pioneers upon whose shoulders we all stand—or are carried in chairs. Thank you.

  3. Gisele was also saying that in response to a bunch of typical New York fans yelling idiotic comments at her. While certainly she'd have been better off simply ignoring the trashballs, she made a valid point. Tom Brady wasn't throwing poorly last night. But without Gronkowski healthy enough to do all the catching like he's done all season, there were too many drops.

I do feel bad for her daughter, though.

  8. Say whatever you want about Miley Cirus...she's done unbelievable amount of work for LGBT and our lgbt kids. From fundraisers, to outreach programs, to getting a freakin tatto on her hands that reads "all love is equal" for gay rights. c'mon now. that girl represents and has a good heart! the Christians don't want her to grow up and want her to be this prestine little 14 year old- no. that's not natural to act like a school girl as an adult. Miley's doing her thing!
