Bridge

Russian YouTubers have a habit of doing terrifying unsafe things from very great heights, and this clip definitely lives up to that tradition.

  1. I hate to take away from everyone's fun - but I think watching this video just encourages kids like this (who maybe aren't old enough to contemplate their mortality). I really hope they don't wind up getting hurt.

  2. @Zeddy - The distance between the water and the bridge itself is 70 meters (about 229 feet). These guys are much higher up on the pilons which are 320 meters high (approx 1050 feet up).

Andy - I LOVE your blog and it's diversity. Keep it up!!

  4. "Russians lose their looks after 25", "Some of the stupidest people on the planet", "Dumb as hell", "Too bad they didn't fall", "I hope he dies doing something like this". These are some of the hateful and bitter comments people have made earlier on this site about this daredevil young man. What kind of people say things like that? So prejudiced, so bitter, so mean spirited.

  6. Where are the posters defending their evil comments that I quoted above? Come out from under your rocks and lets hear your defense.

  7. @Andrew
I believe one of those quotes was from me. I loathe people who do dangerous things for thrills. They are amongst other things supremely selfish and callous to their loved ones who will hurt greatly when they are gone. They cost the rest of us hugely when they die of their stupidity and much more when they only get hurt. Then there is the guy taking up space in an E.R. because of something he stupidly did and denying others who need it quick service and supplies.
I understand that seeking thrills is fun, but so is vengeance. That is no reason to engage in either.

  8. @ Nullnaught: "I hope he dies doing something like this". Spin it any way that eases your conscience for that hateful remark!

  9. @Andrew
I don't know what you mean by spin in this case. I wasn't trying to mitigate or justify anything; I don't need to justify myself to you. I was being polite. You asked me to come out and defend my statement. I don't know what you mean by defend, so I explained why I said what I said. If you have something to say that may change my mind, all well and good. But don't try to play it like it weighs on my conscience becuause it don't and you are in no position to judge me because you are impotent to do anything about me. I will post what I want when I want regardless of how appalled you are.
People like that are evil. They are parasites. They create havoc. I wish they were all dead. :)

  10. @Nullnaught: You wish other people"s death and I am the evil one. If after 20 years of psychotherapy, you don't know that wishing anothers death is not a healthy mental state; you are due a refund. I am not appalled by you, I just don't understand how someone who has been in psychotherapy for 20 years would not have a more positive mental attitude.

  11. @Andrew
I didn't mean to call you evil. I really didn't. I meant to call daredevils evil. That aside I wouldn't call you evil because I like you and also that is no way to argue. I don't see it as an issue of mental health, or if it is then it is something that will not change. I don't think I have a negative mental attitude.
When I was a child, I tried to figure out a law that had a rational basis. That is to say something that is objectively true that would lead to a law. I thought of the most extreme case I could wich to my child's mind was murder. I wonderded if I could prove it was objectively wrong to murder. I couldn't and in fact, following my own logic to it's end, I concluded that there would be nothing wrong with the extinction of the human species.
After that, I no longer held life to be sacred. It is not logical.
I am autistic. Like Dustin Hofman in "The Rainman," only less so. I can't understand unlogical thinking. I just can't. I am blind to it. I get in trouble all the time because I still can't predict human behaviour or especially motives. None of it makes sense to me.

  12. @Nullnaught: I reread your earlier post and you did call the thrill seekers evil and not me. I apologize for that misreading. I don't agree that the thrill seekers are evil and I don't wish them anything but joy and success in life. Lets end this discussion. It is going nowhere.
