When did "lip syncing" get renamed as "lip dubbing" and why was it necessary?
I notice that RuPaul still has the contestants on "Drag Race" lip syncing for their lives and not lip dubbing.
When music artists are caught not singing live, they are outed for "lip syncing", not "lip dubbing" such as with the Ashlee Simpson debacle a few years ago.

Oh come on guys and girls, what's not to like? It's just nice to see everyone having so much fun (and sometimes being clever to boot)? This is what life is about sometimes. Not a mess either, a relatively good edit, well paced and never boring. I sort of like the song too.

@ Tim, I would say it got renamed around the time boring-ass str8 people took it over from drag queens, and stopped bothering to dress up , or to use wit, creativity, and self-awareness to comment ironically on their own embrace of pop culture, opting instead for a mindless and grotesque display of personal narcissism, consumerism, and conformity.
