Gay Republican Group Calls Obama Endorsement of Same-Sex Marriage 'Offensive and Callous'
Gay GOP group Log Cabin Republicans weighs in on today's Obama announcement:
“That the president has chosen today, when LGBT Americans are mourning the passage of Amendment One, to finally speak up for marriage equality is offensive and callous,” said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. “Log Cabin Republicans appreciate that President Obama has finally come in line with leaders like Vice President Dick Cheney on this issue, but LGBT Americans are right to be angry that this calculated announcement comes too late to be of any use to the people of North Carolina, or any of the other states that have addressed this issue on his watch. This administration has manipulated LGBT families for political gain as much as anybody, and after his campaign’s ridiculous contortions to deny support for marriage equality this week he does not deserve praise for an announcement that comes a day late and a dollar short.”

I forgot what I originally wanted to post which was for my partner of 35 years and myself to thank President Obama from the bottom of our hearts.

Twatwaddle and piffle. What a maroon! So stick with the Republicans, who want you back in the closet. Very smart, Maria, very smart!

LCR has taken some shameful positions in the past, but I must agree with this statement. Nobody, not even Gay Americans themselves, are as forthright on this issue as they need to be. The North Carolina bigots are celebrating today with a symbolic wedding cake, rubbing their contempt for us in our faces. How long are we gonna take this sh*t? How long before we've had enough half-hearted support from craven politicians? How long until we start picketing Fundie churches to within an inch of their lives?
If we're really tired of getting f*cked over by society, then we need to get off our damn knees!!! When we beg for equality we make it easy for Straight folks to disrespect us. We've got to stop crowing about all the Gay Pride we allegedly have and start acting proud for real. Elvis Presley said it best in song: "A little less conversation/A little more action/All this aggravation/Ain't satisfactionin' me!"

There are very, very few things I despise more than Gay Republicans.
This is a perfect example why.

Yesterday I was pissed off but resigned
Today I felt better because the Prez finally has our back
Now I am ROTFL, thanks for being so ridiculous

And yet these people still are in negotiations with Romney to see if they will endorse him or not?!?!?

The North Carolina bigots would not have listened to the biracial president of the united states no matter what position he took. This Log Cabin Republican statement was the most cynical purely political statement I've read in quite a while.
On the day that Romney came out against marriage equality and civil unions, that's the day the Log Cabin people pick to find Obama offensive and callous?????

Cooper and his ilk may consider themselves gay...but...I'm gay Mr. Cooper and you and I have NOTHING in common. So, call yourself something else...and get out of my line of vision.

"he does not deserve praise for an announcement that comes a day late and a dollar short.”
Nice to see that these losers are still thinking about their money.

Yes folks Gay Republicans have evolved from mere KAPOS to Full-Fledged S.S. officers.

Plus the only reason NC happened is that the GOP/Tea Party took over the legislature for the first time in 140 years. No GOP majority = no Amendment 1.
So thank the LCR for passing Amendment 1. Their guys did it.

You could give these self-hating idiots everything they ask for and they would still complain.

Though the term "Gay Republican" is an oxymoron, I give them their point; had President Obama came out in support, say, at the time that DADT was being repealed, NC may have had a different outcome.
Oh wait... NC... never mind. As George Takei posted "North Carolina, where you can marry your cousin, just not your gay cousin."

What a bunch of deluded assholes.

considering that Same Sex Marriage as ALREADY ILLEGAL in NC Obama coming out for or against Amendment One (and even the amendment itself) is pretty meaningless

Obama had the marbles to do it while still in office and running for re-election. Cheney did it when his evil career was over. Big difference.

Could someone tell me if the Log cabin reps. made any large donations to help fight the NC amendment 1??
LCR STFU !!!!

it should read "Gay Republican Group Reassures Their Allies That They're Still Scared of Being Hated by Republicans, So They'll Continue to Pretend That Obama is the Enemy"
followed by "p.s. do you love me again, yet?"
the answer, wimps, will always be NO.

The existence of Log Cabin Republicans is what's truly offensive.

SO Glad to see all the negative comments about such a ridiculous statement from the LCR!

So we're supposed to vote for Romney instead? THAT makes sense.
