Sweden's Loreen Wins Eurovision: VIDEO

Loreen

If you haven't already, please meet Loreen of Sweden: the winner of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. She's pretty and she's got a fine voice, but I'm guessing she won because she managed to stay on-key while battling a horde of invisible ... what are they? Ninjas?

  1. @BKT Also I think it's clear to me that her dance was a capoeira-inspired interpretive dance. I enjoyed it I think. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it because I was anticipating ninjas though.

  2. @elcid, it may not have sounded like it to you but she was definitely singing live. It's a fundamental rule of the contest that all vocals are live and all vocalists are present on stage.

If her vocals were pre-recorded we would have heard about it by now and European Broadcasting Union would deciding some sort of sanction against SVT (Swedish Broadcaster) for breaching the rules of the contest.

  3. @Elcid she was singing live, everyone sings live it's part of the rules and she actually choked on a faux-snow flake during the viewing that the juries see.

And the song and performance is good, it's just hard for some people to understand the artistic character of it...

  5. Anyone who is new to Loreen should head to YouTube immediately and listen to her other two singles. The most recent is called "Sober" and the first one is called "My Heart is Refusing Me," which was in the running to represent Sweden at Eurovision 2011 but did not make it.

She was also a contestant on Swedish Idol back in 2004. Wowsers!

  6. The song isn't that extraordinary, it's all in the staging.

  7. I thought this song was OK. I voted for Ukraine, and also liked the songs from Moldova and France.

Loreen won because her song had performed well in some European charts, thus increasing her popularity. This year's contest was so much better than last year's.

    The songs were much better.

  8. Sadly, the only thing this video shows is that there is a lack of talent all over the world.
