OK -- I watch "True Blood". It really should be called "True Sex". Other than the hunky guys, I find this adult vampire series pretty juvenile. Stereotypes abound. Bad acting, bad writing, poor plot development. Silly to the extreme.
Surprisingly, "Vampire Diaries" which is aimed at high school kids has better character development, more nuanced dialogue, and a story line that seems as realistic and complicated as you could ever expect from a fantasy about vampires and werewolves.

Best show on television. Superior acting, writing, and some fun camp. For those that don't like the show, please go watch Three and A Half Men, I'm sure it's more up your alley.

Continuum: oh please. These two shows are pretty different. True Blood is for adults and Vampire Diaries is for teens. Not saying that adults couldn't watch VD but let's face it: the show is full of teen angst and teen-y themes.
I can't say that True Blood is my favourite all time show, but it's still got much bigger balls than Vampire Diaries. I tried watching VD the first couple of seasons but they always kept killing the interesting characters, I mean ALWAYS, and I lost interest. I haven't watched it in a while but I'm pretty sure it's still pretty much the same. And hey: VD is also all about sex. Why do you think all the actors are so damn hot?
