Romney Tells 'Faith and Freedom Coalition' That Children are Better Off with Heterosexual Parents: VIDEO
Mitt Romney gave a speech by satellite to the Faith and Freedom Coalition on Saturday. Among the things he talked about was his belief that children need to have straight parents.
Said Romney:
"We need to strengthen the commitment that exists in this country to family. I hope to be able to talk to young people and tell them how important it is to get married before they have children because the opportunity for a mom and a dad to help guide the life of a child gives them such an enormous advantage in their lives going forward."

The Politicker adds:
The Politicker reached out to the Romney campaign to see whether they felt a child could equally benefit from the guidance provided by a gay couple. Ryan Williams, a spokesman for Mr. Romney, said it is the candidate’s long held belief children are better off with straight parents.
“This is what he’s been saying forever,” Mr. Williams said. “He’s always said that the ideal setting to raise a child is with the mom and the dad.”

Police Raid Meeting of Gay Rights Activists in Uganda
Ugandan police have again raided a meeting of LGBT and human rights activists, this time in Kampala, AFP reports:
East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project, the organisation behind the workshop, said that police interrupted the meeting and began questioning participants at the event, including activists from Canada, Kenya and Rwanda. The police forced their way into some of the activists' hotel rooms, the group said in a statement. The training workshop was intended to bolster the local gay community's abilities to report rights abuses, the statement said.
Activists denounced the raid:
"This ludicrous and senseless harassment of human rights activists has no basis in law whatsoever and has to stop," Michelle Kagari, Amnesty International's deputy director for Africa, said in a statement. "We are seeing a worrying pattern emerging whereby the Ugandan authorities engage in arbitrary activities deliberately designed to intimidate and threaten legitimate human rights work," Kagari said.
In February, a conference of LGBT activists and human rights defenders being held at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel on Lake Victoria in Entebbe, Uganda was interrupted in a raid led by State Minister for Ethics and Integrity Simon Lokodo, who ordered it halted and the organizer arrested.

Montana Republican Party Drops Call to Criminalize Homosexuality
At its convention over the weekend (the one at which the "Obama Outhouse" made an appearance, the Montana Republican Party dropped an item from its platform which had received attention in recent years:
"We support the clear will of the people of Montana expressed by legislation to keep homosexual acts illegal."
The AP reports:
The GOP had held the position seeking to criminalize homosexuality since a 1997 Montana Supreme Court case striking down similar state laws. The party had been criticized in recent years for continuing its request to criminalize homosexuality.
But party executive director Bowen Greenwood says the decision to drop the language came as part of a larger effort to simply shorten a 31-page platform. He says there was no specific discussion on the matter.
The Party retained at item making it clear it supports only marriage between a man and a woman. Montana Democrats added marriage equality to their plank this year.
