California Man Excoriates County Supervisors For Anti-Gay Politics: VIDEO
Jeff Gerard has some serious gumption.
The California man last month appeared at a meeting of the Sutter County Supervisors to blast board members for their past anti-gay politics, including supporting Proposition 8 and pressuring a county clerk to stop issuing marriage licenses to gay couples during that brief period when same-sex nuptials were legal in the Golden State.
Here's the video's YouTube description:
Jeff 4 Justice addresses the anti-LGBT actions of Sutter Country Supervisors James Gallagher and Stan Cleveland.
Jeff explains how lowly they are if they need their marriages protected because of gays having the same right to legally marry as them; he calls out Gallagher for revealing his sexuality in his county biography while trying to stop SB48; and he calls them out for trying to get their country clerk to not issue marriage licenses to gay couples when they were allowed to wed for a few months back in 2008 in California.
Gerard also calls out Gallagher for once saying, "There's no fundamental right for the state to recognize relationships," a quote the activist says resembles Ron Paul's libertarian politics. "If you believe that, I hope you would be more of an advocate of getting government out of marriage as opposed to saying a certain portion of gay people can't participate in marriage."
You can check out more of Gerard's work here and you should also watch the video AFTER THE JUMP...

Way to go Jeff!!! ::that was sarcasm BTW:: I know Salvador and myself aren't the only people who feel the way we do. Trust me! Just the fact that you feel a need to explain/ defend yourself, at some length by the way, shows that it struck a nerve with you because of the basis of truth behind our words. No one is denying you started a movement here in the Y-S area but maybe, just maybe people here just don't like you because they know you. Again we are speaking purely from the Y-S perspective, which I'm sure won't matter once you make it to Hollywood or even better WeHo. Living in your SUV as a "political statement" but then wanting a couch to crash on when times get tough? Okay 0_o Homeless people sleep out in the freezing cold and bare the rising temperatures. Maybe you should consider that actions like that really effected the image that you tried to create here in Y-S: that is hardly projection that's a reaction.
Of course people in the Y-S would fear pissing people off, THINK OF WHERE YOU ARE!! So a few LGBT people piss some "straights" off someone gets hurt, or worse killed. Not gonna lie the local government sucks and of course nothing would be done. But it's all good in the name of the cause right?
BTW posting flyers at the college? What about standing in the courtyard and spreading the message? Or was that so hard for you to do? There was A Christian hypocrite that would be there all the time spreading the "good word," which was not a student by the way, I never saw you there trying to reach the next generation.
As for the hiring a staff BS. In my experience if someone feels passionate about what they are doing and truly follow and respect there leader the work would be put in without pay. The current LGBT group (which now has a pretty decent youth membership) has done more for the community in the past couple of months than you did for those six months that you described. And they had to start all over again once you resigned.
In conclusion Jeff. I knew you would use this as a way to plug your propaganda on everyone here, again the fame thing. Obviously your fans are one sided and don't know the real Jeff, which is fine I get it, they can't help it. again Way to go Jeff!! again that was sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell because of your loud ego.
And yeah maybe you did "put us in our place." But not once did we say we don't agree what your doing, we just wish you were really honest with yourself. Remember change starts within.

Kaylee, yes when you slander people it strikes a nerve.
Next, essentially what you’re communicating is this: conform to our approval of you. If you be how I want you to be then maybe you get acceptance.
And you people are working with youth? What do you teach them? Conform and be yourself so long as we approve of how you are?
I won’t conform to heterosexuals for acceptance and I won’t conform to the judgment of exclusionary, hyper judgmental, elitist wannabe LGBTs either.
You can live in fear all you want and good luck with that. Again, it takes all kinds of people to make change, not just the ones who fit in with your cookie cutter conformity of how people should be.
Next, I listed numerous things I did to better the LGBT community. Sorry if not spending more time at Yuba College to appease your wishes did not make the cut of how I spent my time.
Next, if hiring staff is so offensive to you then again, please abstain from participating in any organization that has paid staffers such as the LGBT Center in Sacramento, PFLAG, HRC, EQCA, Trevor Project, etc… Pride events often hire staff so make sure you never go to one of those.
Kaylee, will you promise me you’ll do that?
Next, if you’ve done so much for the youth, great for you! I did not know the value of an LGBT person was measured by you standards anyway.
Next, no one had to start all over once I resigned. That’s bullshit. The group had just filed papers with the state and had not yet filed with the IRS.
Lastly, if I choose to live in my vehicle instead of stupidly paying rent for a property I never own or getting suckered into a mortgage by a ruthless bank then that’s my choice. I am happy in my vehicle thanks. And I never asked you or anyone from the group to sleepover when I got back to Y-S so get your facts straight liar.
However, if I had so the fuck what? People aren’t supposed to look out for one another or are you a Herman Cain like anti-poor person?
The reason I am a voice for the homeless and mobile homeless is because they are often afraid to speak up because of the judgmental people like you out there. I know very well one of those Board members was also very anti-poor people in the way he talked about people in the group with lower incomes.
The idea you think a homes person should suffer to adequately be deemed needy in your eyes is telling of how lowly your character is.
Now if people like you and Salvador could refocus all this pent up energy you have towards the enemies of LGBT people there then perhaps the area would transform.
I know there a lot of people who are LGBTI or straight supporters who get into elitisms, racism, classism, body type discrimination, religious discrimination, political discrimination, and racial discrimination.
Sounds like ya’ll falling into some of those categories. LGBTIs and straight supporters can be awful people too.
There’s a lot of diverse LGBTIs out there and if you keep on being hyper judgmental towards people you deems as not good enough then you’ll repel people and the group will become another farce LGBT with a limited number of participants who are essentially a little click.
Kaylee you’re fearful, hyper judgmental and I am soooooooooo glad I am the person I am and not you!
You’re essentially as much of a prejudice supremacist wannabe as the anti-equality people I’ve been exposing.

I'm just curious, wth is a "wannabe" lgbt?

AladinSane
"elitist wannabe"

So then not a real elitist?

You're really good at putting words in people's mouths using your five dollar words and creating assumptions, from written comments, that appear to be facts. I didn't know you had a degree in linguistics or psychology to be able to do that.
Of course you look past the fact that I give you credit for starting a movement that is long needed in Y-S. This is just my opinion. I don't want you to conform to what I think, I respect your views, sometimes not your actions. Sorry I'm not a huge fanatic and praise you.
Just seems like you spend a lot of energy fighting people that don't always conform to your views. I'm not fighting you just expressing an opinion too bad you can't respect or see that. Being as liberal as you are I thought you would.
