Luka Magnotta, the Canadian porn star who has been the subject of an international manhunt over the past few days and is charged with murdering a man and sending his body parts to political parties in the mail, has been arrested in an internet cafe in Berlin, Canadian news outlets are reporting.
German police Chief-Supt. Stefan Rieldich told CBC News that Berlin authorities arrested Magnotta in an internet café Monday at 2 p.m. local time. "As far as I know he was arrested alone, and there was no struggle," Rieldich said. Magnotta is being held at the Berlin prison and is expected to be brought in front of a judge on Tuesday….
Montreal police said Magnotta left the city on an international flight on May 26. According to the French newspaper Le Figaro, Magnotta arrived in France at Paris's Roissy airport the same day. Interpol issued a notice about Magnotta to 190 countries on Thursday. Montreal police are calling it one of the largest manhunts in their history.
Police had been searching in France and earlier today there were reports that Magnotta may have fled Paris by bus.
Magnotta is suspected of dismembering 33-year-old Chinese student Jun Lin, who was studying in Montreal. Lin was reported missing on May 29th.
Magnotta appeared in gay adult films and disturbing videos in which kittens were killed. Last week, a rapid sequence of events unfolded in which the grisly crime scene was discovered in Magnotta's apartment, a human torso was located in the trash behind that apartment, and body parts, in including a foot sent to conservative party headquarters, began turning up in the mail.
