Photo proof of how the sun ages you: "This man is 69 years old. He drove a truck for 28 years. The premature aging from sun damage to the left side of his face is extensive enough to warrant a feature in the New England Journal of Medicine."
Justin Bieber walks into glass wall at concert, suffers mild concussion.
David Mixner on the evangelical call to kill gays: "The temptation, of course, is for thinking people to cross these preachers of hate off as right wing religious crazies. Their attempt to be the moral police of America is more like the Taliban than a thoughtful discussion taking place in a democratic setting. Not taking them seriously, however, would be a mistake."

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney addresses ExxonMobil's rejection of protections for LGBT employees: "Under questioning from the Washington Blade, Carney said the White House would continue to pursue legislation — the Employment Non-Discrimination Act — to institute non-discrimination protections for LGBT workers as opposed to issuing an executive order that changes policies at U.S. contractors like ExxonMobil."

Nike hosts first-ever LGBT sports summit: "The goal of this ground-breaking event is to create a team game plan for ending homophobia and transphobia in sport that takes advantage of the best thinking and strengths of each organization. The aim is to increase our ability to collaborate on bringing about the change we all are committed to. For the better part of three days, summit participants will identify and commit to completing specific action plans toward ending anti-LGBT discrimination in sports. L.A.'s Abbey Bar to open Chicago outpost? "Long an eyesore in the middle of Boystown, the former auto repair shop at 3532 N. Halsted Street, used mostly for parking cars during Cubs games, could be transformed into the newest outpost of The Abbey as soon as December if all goes according to plan."

Serpent-handling evangelical pastor dies from rattlesnake bite: "Mack Wolford, a flamboyant Pentecostal pastor from West Virginia whose serpent-handling talents were profiled last November in The Washington Post Magazine , hoped the outdoor service he had planned for Sunday at an isolated state park would be a 'homecoming like the old days,' full of folks speaking in tongues, handling snakes and having a 'great time.' But it was not the sort of homecoming he foresaw. Instead, Wolford, who turned 44 the previous day, was bitten by a rattlesnake he owned for years. He died late Sunday."

Gee, Mack Wolford, I just cannot even begin to have any sorrow for your death. The bottom line is that if you do stupid things, sometimes (not often enough) you die a stupid death. The terrible thing is that your congregation will go on doing the same stupid stuff, most probably.
Stupid people don't learn.

It's actually a bit difficult to kill yourself with a rattlesnake.

Saying that all evangelical leaders believe gays should be put to death is like saying all Muslims are terrorists and would happily fly a jumbo jet into a NY skyscraper to kill us.
There are extremists in all religions. If you believe all evangelical leaders want to put us to death for being gay then you're a fool.

These gay killing pastors are obviously part of the loony Christian fringe-perhaps they should start handling rattle snakes...

I'd really love to see Freddie Stroma (of Harry Potter fame) play Finnick in Catching Fire. His is the face I imagined while reading the book.

Jake Shears flaunting his derriere is hardly news, but it is one fantastic derriere. I would love to bite it - for starters.

Than the sun ages you –or as facts proven too, the tanning bed- is no news at all, but wow, it really adds like 20 years to your skin. Too late for those who swallowed all the sun they could when still fresh flowers though; the effects are lasting.

What exactly is it that makes the photos of David Beckham and his grandmother "adorable"?

@Timothy,
Be careful with that sunscreen. You're body vitally needs vitamin D and get's most of it from sun exposure. Sunscreen interferes with this. This may be one of the reasons why there's an epidemic of serious vitamin D deficiency in America and elsewhere.
Some of the classic symptoms are muscle cramps especially in the legs, autoimmune issues like allergies, skin problems, arthritis, weakened bones [your body needs vitamin D to use calcium], soft teeth prone to cavities and decay, even hair loss on the head and body.
Everybody should try and get at least 15 minutes to 1/2 hr a day of direct sunlight without sunscreen. People who live north of the 42nd parallel [that means all Canadians, all the British Isles, northern Europe including northern France, central Europe, extreme northern U.S. especially most of the Pacific northwest and northern New England/New York state, Alaska] will not be able to get vitamin D from the sun for at least 4=5 months of the year due to weak sunlight, and they need to take vitamin D supplements and eat plenty of food with vitamin D.

I'm sorry, that should read north of LATITUDE 42 degrees. As a reference, Boston USA is 42 degrees north, Barcelona,Spain is 41 degrees north, Marseilles, France is 43 degrees north.

My dermatologist tells me:"there is no such thing as a healthy tan. It is just a visible sign of sun damaged skin." It looks good when you're 25 but wait till you're over 40.
