  1. That is a wildly misleading summary of what Donnelly says in the second video - he never says anything about the founding fathers envisioning texting while driving. Did you actually listen to the clip?

  2. following that lawmaker's strange logic, perhaps we don't need DUI penalties either? maybe the grave consequence of possibly causing someone's death is enough motivation for drivers to "just police themselves"? the founding fathers most likely never envisioned DUI penalties either.

    what rubbish.

  3. Yo, Donnelly, wrong. I have NEVER texted while driving, and I think we should give WHOPPING tickets to those who do - considering I have to take evasive action at least once or twice each way during my commute. Every single day.

  4. Who cares what the founders intended that was 250 years ago, they weren't all seeing gods, things have moved on, and ban people's asses from carrying guns, too!!!

  5. Deadweight is one of Beck's best songs. Never knew Gondry directed the video. Good stuff.

  6. re : texting and the Founders:
Yeah, what I've said before.......stop worshipping at the alter of a very flawed Constitution......and stop pretending that the founders of the Union were all seeing gods.
Now get down to the hard task of agreeing a new Constitution and see how united you all are !

  7. Wow, havent seen that deadweight video in so long. Loved the movie too, back when movies could be slow and weird and end in claymation without too much judgement. A life less Ordinary was also back when McGreggor was cute, a good flick to pick up!

  8. Re: Texting,

HOLY CRAP, It's too much to tell people to not text and drive? Driving is not a freedom! It is a learned skill that has parameters that if you go beyond you can die. Yes, cars aren't that dangerous and you can get super lazy in your observance of the rules of driving, but it's still a thing you literally must train for before we let you do it.

  9. Um, Obama was quoting from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution.

The Constitution never mentions god or any other term that compares to god. And with regard to religion, it only mentions it twice, both times to specifically deny it a functional place in the government:

    Article VI, Section 3:

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

    Amendment 1:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof
