  1. I'm sure there's a number 6...

  2. Also -- his tithing to the Mormon church would open up the religion question in a way that Romney has been trying to avoid.

  3. I thought it might have something to do with filed jointly with his five Mormon wives and the dependent child deductions for his 14 other children besides the five creepy, adult sons.

Saturday Night Live summed it up best that the President is not worried (citing the depressing economy) because he is running against Mitt Romney. If it gets any worse, I expect him to withdraw and Paul Ryan to be a t the head of the ticket.

  4. MIKEMIKE,
#6 His tax returns shows he was on Bain Capital payroll until 2009!

That's pure speculation, but what kind of jokes do you expect about a man who quits jobs "retroactively?" Between a man who fails to tell his employer he quits and a company that keeps a person on the payroll for [at least] 3 years after he stops showing up, how can we trust what anyone involved says?

  5. He just wants the presidency to add to his trophy case.

  6. I think an important reason that Romney won't release more tax returns, is that they will show the millions of dollars that he has contributed to he Mormon Church. That could hurt him among the fundamentalists Christians who look upon Mormonism as an unchristian sect

  7. A theory I heard recently that I like is that Romney's reluctance to release returns is due (at least in part) to the fact that he HASN'T been tithing the full 10% of his income expected by his church and that the older returns will reveal this fact and embarrass
    him to the Mormons.

  8. Romney is a VERY smart money guy. I am sure that there is nothing illegal in his returns. But there are a lot of grey areas and obscure loopholes. That's what smart money people do.

  9. My theory is that he knows in his heart that he's destined to lose this election, and figures that he'd rather lose without everyone gawking at his clever tax-evading maneuvers.

  10. Well according to Santorum - Myth isn't smart or he wouldn't be on their side.

  11. Mitt is hiding a secret and we need to find out what he is hiding, is he a criminal? He is another President Richard Nixon who was a criminal. Nixon was thrown out of office as president because he hid the truth. We do not need another criminal in the White House like Nixon.

  12. Is it possible that Romney took advantage of one of the IRS tax amnesty programs? Wherein one avoids jail time by coming clean, usually about overseas accounts? Hmmmmmm

I wish someone would just point blank ask him that question on TV.

Is it possible that the IRS doesn't check his returns very carefully for the same reason the SEC couldn't bring itself to check on that ponzi schemer from NYC (Bernie Madoff, former head of the SEC) who's now in jail? You know, too famous, too well connected, too powerful, too important, too public a figure, a former Governor of Massachusetts?

  13. If releasing his tax returns would help him win this election...he would do it...and since they've determined that they would do more harm than good...no release! Of course they know that not releasing will create all kinds of "theories"...and still no release. The considerable damage done by assorted theories we're hearing is therefore less harmful than actually releasing them. Isn't that called something like "the lesser of two evils"?

  14. that ad could have been SO much better. the narrator was so monotone, and the graphics so blah it wasn't memorable not did it drive its important home. very amateurish.

  15. @GREGOIRE And, you sir, win the "touche" award for today. I agree with you that Romney's "tithing" to the Mormon Church is EXACTLY why he won't release his tax returns.

  16. A friend of mine in Collage was a Mormon, and he said, among other things, that his Father was required to provide a copy of his tax return each year, along with a check for 10% of his GROSS Income to his church Elders.

  17. Thanks instead of this admirable review. I knew some of these but surely not the complete of them.
