Paris Hilton Comments On Gay Men And AIDS Actually Are Shocking

ParisHiltonThe word "shocking" is often inserted into headlines to grab reader attention, to sensationalize video, audio or text that may not in the end be that shocking.

Not so with Radar Online's headline on Paris Hilton's odious remarks about gay men who meet on Grindr: "SHOCKING AUDIO: Paris Hilton Blasts Gays Who Have Sex With Strangers: ‘Most Of Them Probably Have AIDS'".

According to the site, a New York City cab driver recently sent them secretly recorded audio of a conversation Paris and a gay male friend had about Grindr.

Explaining the hook-up app to the heiress, the friend remarks, "Say I log into Grindr, someone that's on Grindr can be in that building and it tells you all the locations of where they are and you can be like, 'Yo, you wanna f**k?' and he might be on like, the sixth floor."

Paris' response: "Ewww. Eww. To get f**ked? Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS." She later says she would be "afraid" to be gay because "You'll, like, die of AIDS."

Hilton's PR team, dealing with the biggest gaffe they've had to face in a long time because their client has for the most part dropped out of public interest, claims the 31-year old was only talking about HIV-positive men who go in search of unprotected sex.

Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease.

The conversation became heated after a close gay friend told her ... a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex. He also discussed a website that encourages random sex by gay men with strangers. As she was being shown the website her comments were in reference to those people promoting themselves on the site.

The cab driver who recorded this, only provided a portion of the conversation. It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays. Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone’s sexual orientation.

Sigh.

  1. Not artfully put, sure. But who can honestly deny that anonymous sex is a plague on our community? As has been aptly pointed out above, people are just begging for a lot more than HIV. Newsflash: there are a host of STDs, many of which you can get from oral or protected anal.

Let's all dig our heads out from under the sand and be honest about the public health crisis we are perpetuating by our seeming inability to resist the next hook-up. It's reality check time. Too bad the messenger in this instance happened to be that particular heiress.

  2. AKULA....HOMO GENIUS is right! I've seen slutty heteros before, but they are so much more likely to wrap it up before they smack it up. Not saying all of them do, but I'm so sure more of them do then our community.

  3. I don't disagree with what she said and I understand the context it might have in a conversation with a friend. And why was a cab driver taping the conversation?

I don't think that gay men are the only ones who do it. I know tons of straight people who go on nasty phone lines and craigslist and hit it with random strangers. But, yes, anonymous sex in bushes and bathroom is gross and dangerous no matter WHO does it.

  6. Homo Genius. Check out the term 'Dogging' on Urban Dictionary. Now what were you saying?

  7. It's tragic that a shallow rube like Paris Hilton has to deliver the news to this community. It's been obvious for thirty five years that ghetto culture has allowed hiv to spread nonstop. If only they would grow up. But after all this time, and the tons of excuses they've ginned up, it ain't likely.

  12. How much do want to bet she deliberately had the cabbie record the conversation in a desperate attempt to get her name in spotlight?

  13. Homo "genius" and ugh really: If you bright bulbs (along with Paris Hilton) think that the only people who use Grindr or have sex in bushes at parks and at adult bookstores and bathhouses are homosexual, as opposed to straight guys looking for relief because they can't get any at home, you are living in an alternate reality. Wake up.

  14. Well, if it's true that, "...the 31-year old was only talking about HIV-positive men who go in search of unprotected sex..." then you can't really argue or disagree.

  15. I remember a few years back when she was on the cover of OUT magazine. That's when I cancelled my subscription.

I hope she sinks into the sunset for good now.

  16. I'm not shocked by these comments because she's said mildly homophobic things before. The comment section of Radar Online (the linked site) is quite shocking though.

I'm glad this was posted because like it or not, a lot of people in the world care what Paris Hilton says. Belonsky is doing his job. If you don't want to read about Paris Hilton, scroll past it.

  17. I know it shouldn't and that she wouldn't care but this story actually hurts my feelings.

  18. "Straight guys are horny too but they don't go around having random sex with people they don't know"
    Because these 'straight men' are
    A) So sexually repressed they are raping their own children or relatives to get their rocks off.
B)Joining the priesthood, the Boy Scouts of Amerikkka or are entrusted 'family men' coaching jocks out of their jockstraps.
C)Paying for their girlie shows,sex-lines,etc with their corporate accounts and passing the cost of their sexual escapades onto the taxpayer.

Paris is a classic rich bit*h hypocrite.

  19. I don't know why anyone pays attention to her. She's stupid, talentless and charmless.
As far as I'm concerned, her name is only relevant in the context of discussing the now expiring Bush-era tax cuts that Romney wants to deepen and make permanent. I call them the Paris Hilton tax cuts, because it is people like her who receive the vast majority of the tax benefits.

  23. The problem is, people, that there is no condemnation when straight people hook up. There is no "ewwwww, they're whores." Paris is guilty of it, and so are many straights AND gays. Paris is a former-whore, yet was almost beloved because of it when she was really big. Look at Hugh Hefner. This is about homosexuality and the fact there is still a gay=dirty mentality in the eyes of a large portion of people. Which is really born from the HIV crisis. It was 30+ years ago but we're still feeling the affects of being denigrated and blamed for HIV as a community. And that's the truth.
