  1. By donating to EqualityMaine.

    Otherwise, keep out of it.

The balance lies in the rural folks that people from "away" tend to antagonize.

Let the people on the ground who are doing all the footwork, going door to door and listening and talking to Mainer's do their job.

NOM hiding their donors list and violating state laws isn't sitting well with most Mainers. Let NOM sabotage themselves and give the EqualityMaine people your support, they know Maine. NY'ers don't.

  2. I agree with the above comment. I had read something a year or so ago by someone anti-SSM who said that one reason SSM lost the last time was that the rural people in Maine don't like "outsiders" telling them how to run their own affairs (poor choice of words maybe!) The people who live in Maine are likely to do a better job of winning people over. Maine is one state where the prospects for a victory look good, so it makes no sense to alienate people at this late date. I don't know much about rural people, being a New York City girl, but I hear that they often find urbanites to be pushy and "preachy" (by which they usually mean culturally liberal.)
