Minnesota Marriage Spokesman Caught Comparing Gays to Hitler

The extremism of the Christian conservative activists trying to pass the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in Minnesota was laid bare this week, the AP reports:

BrandonThe rival campaign recorded a recent Brainerd event where the Rev. Brad Brandon said that Hitler suppressed religious freedom, and that religious freedom is at stake in Minnesota’s campaign to define marriage. He made a similar pitch at a public seminar in Woodbury where at least two other Minnesota for Marriage staffers were present.

Brandon is director of church outreach for Minnesota for Marriage. Deputy Campaign Manager Andy Parrish said Brandon’s remarks were not sanctioned by the campaign and that he’s been instructed to get back on message.

  10. It really ticks me off when anti-gay bigots crow about how religious freedom is under attack, or their freedom of speech is under attack, or that their rights are somehow, in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER, being impacted by LGBT civil rights.

  11. The Jews, who just might have something valid to say when Hitler comparisons are brought up, condemn this sort of rhetoric in civil discourse. When will the Religious Right realize that Religious Liberty and Free Speech actually have proper limits?
