Lawyer with Anti-Gay Christian Litigation Group 'Alliance Defense Fund' Arrested by FBI on Child Porn Charges

Lisa Biron, a Manchester, New Hampshire lawyer associated with Alliance Defending Freedom (better and formerly known as the Alliance Defense Fund, an anti-gay Christian law group) was arrested Friday morning on child pornography charges, the Concord Monitor reports:

BironA Manchester lawyer took a teenage girl to Canada, had her engage in sexual activity and convinced her to let it be filmed, according to federal indictments.

FBI agents swiftly arrested Lisa Biron yesterday morning as she awaited a hearing on child pornography charges at Manchester’s district court. About 9 a.m. FBI agents entered the courtroom, told Biron to leave her belongings and took her into an adjoining conference room where she remained for several minutes before coming out in handcuffs.

Agents also found 200 rounds of ammunition in Biron's home.

The paper adds:

In making her case that Biron should be held, Fitzgibbon also made the following allegations: Two witnesses have testified to seeing Biron in possession of ecstasy, marijuana and cocaine; Biron sent a threatening text message to the person who turned her in to the police, advising him he would have to watch his back “FOR EVER."; Biron sent a text to a friend saying she might flee to Cuba because she had “nothing left.”; Biron has asked people to lie to law enforcement about her case; Other juveniles have been subjected to Biron’s sexual activity and drug use.

And finally:

Biron is associated with the Alliance Defending Freedom, a group of lawyers who, according to their website, are committed to keeping “the door open for the spread of the Gospel” by advocating for “religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family.” In Concord, she worked with the ADF in defending a Pentecostal Church on Mountain Road in its tax fight against the city.

  1. Given her overall behavior, she must have gone to the law school at Regent U (just like Bachmann): threats, lies, flight, whatever. (I'd love to know how they have accreditation.) I shouldn't have been surprised that she wanted to flee to CUBA given her drug problems, but I was.

  3. Please don't blame this on Christianity. Bad people come in many disguises regardless of their religion, ethnicity, culture or sexual preference, etc... Sad but true. Be better than that; don't let your self sink.

  4. Yet more proof that the religious are nothing more than rabid animals, preying on anyone to sate their sick lust for power. They are a plague on society. How many more innocent lives must be shattered before vermin like this Christian face justice? I tire of those who make excuses for them as well.

  5. It may be a bit unusual given that something like 90% of pedophiles are male, but technically pedophilia refers to an attraction to prepubescent children, and she was abusing teenagers, so the statistics could be different in her case. Didn't have much luck finding anything via a google search for demographic data regarding the gender of ephebophiles. Regardless, let's hope she gets locked up for a good long time.

  10. I wrote a neuroscience thesis on neurobiological substrates of human sexual attraction. There's actually a fair amount of (relatively recent) scientific evidence in the literature refuting the idea that pedophilic attraction is comparable to adult sexual attraction -- whether homo- or heterosexual. In fact, from a biological perspective, pedophilia looks quite similar to obsessive compulsive and impulse control disorders, and these and other psychological diagnoses or personality disorders are often seen in conjunction with pedophilia. That isn't true for adult sexual attraction, whether gay or straight, aside from higher rates of stress-induced conditions (depression, anxiety, and drug/alcohol abuse mainly) attributed to social stigma in the homosexual population. It may seem intuitive to well-functioning adults that attraction to minors could represent an inborn mode of sexual expression that cannot be altered -- just like homosexuality, or heterosexuality, for that matter -- but our best science is proving that to be quite untrue. Just thought some of you would like to know, since I see this argument pop up on this site every now and then.

As for the story and this woman... yeah, just... terribly sad and pathetic.

  11. Just plain sick. Driving a teen over the boarder to film porn? Unimaginable. Shame on you, you sick, twisted pig. To think you and your type feel entitled to put down my way of life...just look at yourselves in a mirror if you want to see the REAL freak show.

  13. ADF Attorney Caught With Child Porn? Not Really

Point to it as yet another example of an anti-gay, “pro-family” Christian covering up their sexual predation? Absolutely. But the “association” with the ADF is pretty weak here. It appears that she was the local attorney who worked with them on a single case. She didn’t work for them, she was involved in a single case. The ADF works just like the ACLU does in this regard, contracting with a local “cooperating attorney” to handle such cases. If an attorney in Keokuk, Iowa who once worked with the ACLU on a single case was caught doing something terrible, we would find it ridiculous if someone said that proved something bad about the ACLU; the same is true here. Hammer her, but the ADF has no real connection to this.

  14. @Diogenes Arktos:

Schools like Bob Jones, Regent, Liberty, etc. generally "accredit" each other but are not accredited by any legally recognized or chartered accreditation organization with established standards. They operate the same way groups like NARTH and Exodus International do, by donning the disguise of respectable social institutions (in the former case, higher ed, and in the latter, counseling and therapy) and then casting aspersions on those same institutions in their "mainstream" form. This allows them all to escape being held to any kind of professional standards, which would inevitably unmask their unethical practices.
