  1. It's not quite a Netflix "Original" Series. House of Cards is a remake of the Thatcher-era British mini-series of the same title, which I've seen on Netflix in Canada. The trailer looks promising, but with the characters and presentation apparently identical to the BBC-produced original, I can't think of a reason to watch it.

  2. I agree with Gary. The inclination to do American remakes of Brit shows that are perfectly fine is driven only by a desire to make money, without any concern for taste or aesthetics. It's not as if people have to read subtitles to enjoy the original House of Cards, or Queer As Folk, The Office, Traffik or so many others.
Turning the wonderfully funny Cage aux Folles into something for our audiences might have been justifiable if the story and characters weren't so badly botched. There is no place in my world for Nathan Lane.

  3. Kevin, come out of the closet already. Everyone already assumes you're gay. You're not fooling anyone.

  4. Obama is a total hypocrite - he's dismantling the work of the EPA. This is Obama's Katrina. He owns it. So do Obots. He's now part of the "drill, baby, drill" crowd. They're killing us.

Huff Po 09 02 2011 "WASHINGTON — In a dramatic reversal, President Barack Obama on Friday scrubbed a clean-air regulation that aimed to reduce health-threatening smog, yielding to bitterly protesting businesses and congressional Republicans who complained the rule would kill jobs in America's ailing economy.

Withdrawal of the proposed regulation marked the latest in a string of retreats by the president in the face of GOP opposition, and it drew quick criticism from liberals. Environmentalists, a key Obama constituency, accused him of caving to corporate polluters..."

Obama doesn't give a rat's ass about the escalating degradation of the environment because he's a lap dog of the rich, who are ultimately and solely responsible for the climate crisis.

Obama is to the right of Nixon on unions and the environment and is competing with Nixon's record of attacking the Bill of Rights and killing civilians and getting GI's killed in the process.

  5. House of Cards looks excellent.

  6. House of Cards is to this day my favourite TV show ever, a near shakespearean tale of ambition and intrigue. Ian Richardson in the lead role positively fizzed with machiavelian malice and menace (that voice!!), and turned in a tour de force performance (those in the US may remember him better as the 'Grey Poupon' guy). I am a big fan of Spacey, an if anyone can pull off the American version, he can. But if any of you are intrigued by the above trailer, I strongly urge you to check out the British Version first.

  7. Kevin Spacey? Pass. Could they have hired a more boring actor? The last decent think he acted in was "American Beauty".
