Ugandan 'Kill the Gays' Bill Lawmaker Rebecca Kadaga Receives Blessing from the Pope

Ugandan parliamentary speaker, who has said she wants to pass the "kill the gays" bill as a "Christmas gift" to Ugandans, received a blessing from the Pope at the Vatican.

Said Kadaga to Reuters last month: "Ugandans want that law as a Christmas gift. They have asked for it and we'll give them that gift."

Uganda's New Vision reports:

Kadaga who led a delegation of Ugandan legislators to the Vatican expressed delight at meeting the Pope and visiting St Peter’s Basilicca.

“I think this is a moment that cannot be repeated. We have been reading about him, hearing stories about St.Peter’s Basilica but now we are here physically. I think it is something that I will remember all my life. It’s a very great moment and I thank God for this opportunity,” she said minutes after meeting the Pope.

Ironically, a Ugandan delegation had traveled to Rome for the 7th Consultative Assembly of Parliamentarians for the International Criminal Court and the World Parliamentary Conference on Human Rights.

The Vatican mass they attended was the one in which the Pope sent his first tweet.

  1. There's a typo: It should read "Ironically, THE Ugandan delegation...".

@Simon: They were in Rome, so they stopped by the Vatican. I am personally furious - but not surprised - that the Pope supports the Kill-the-gays bill. Back when it was introduced in 2009, he condemned the RC bishops in Uganda for supporting the bill because of the death penalty. He seemed to have forgotten his statement about playing nice with the gays. It's behaviour like this that leads me to believe an African bishop (RC or Anglican) really said that the heart of the gospel is hatred of gays.

I have not read anything about Kadaga's religious beliefs. Yes, as Andy says, it is ironic that the delegation was in Rome for a meeting on Human Rights, particularly since this delegation does not believe gays have any.

  5. Marriage reflects the natural moral and social law evidenced the world over. As the late British social anthropologist Joseph Daniel Unwin noted in his study of world civilizations, any society that devalued the nuclear family soon lost what he called "expansive energy," which might best be summarized as society's will to make things better for the next generation. In fact, no society that has loosened sexual morality outside of man-woman marriage has survived.

Analyzing studies of cultures spanning several thousands of years on several continents, Chairman of Harvard University’s sociology department, Pitirim Sorokin. found that virtually all political revolutions that brought about societal collapse were preceded by a sexual revolution in which marriage and family were devalued by the culture’s acceptance of homosexuality.

When marriage loses its unique status, women and children most frequently are the direct victims. Giving same-sex relationships or out-of-wedlock heterosexual couples the same special status and benefits as the marital bond would not be the expansion of a right but the destruction of a principle. .

  6. Uganda is a sovereign state, and its legislative body (parliament) has every right to pass any law they want, and they should not necessarily please the west's imperialistic agenda just to get some handouts. Africa has a unique culture, and immoral behaviors should not be allowed to taint such a culture. I really feel that human's intelligence and common sense is fading away, but Uganda, and other African countries who take some brave decision to ban that odious behavior is showing that there some good people left in this world.
Homosexuality is a disease which spreading so fast, particularly in the west, and it has gotten out of control that they just want to export it to other countries.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:World_homosexuality_laws.svg) There are many countries in which homosexuality is illegal, and punishable by death.
The west are now trying to find new market for sodomy in Africa, and they will stop at nothing to achieve that target. However few people will be spoiled in that process, but whether one likes it or not Africans will never accept homosexuality, they will rather die of hunger.
