How enjoyable. Considering how much of a furor the Oscars have caused this year, I’ll enjoy any schadenfreude that comes their way (“Brokeback” payback, bitches!). It’ll be really interesting if “Argo” wins picture and/or director on Sunday at the Golden Globes as well. Nothing more pleasurable than the Academy with egg all over its face.

AJ, what’s an “Oscar-grubber?” Affleck made a phenomenal movie that clearly is being recognized by critics everywhere as one of the year’s best. He was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Directors Guild Award. This is his third movie and all have been terrifically directed. If anyone is a grubber, I’d say it’s you.

We saw Argo and to be honest, it came off to me as something out of the past. It was good and it had some thrilling moments but to beat out Spielberg and the others? It was even chosen by the Critics as best picture and that was a very big stretch. Hated Zero Dark Thirty – that was just a horrible destructive movie. Critics can be total idiots – and they proved that by selecting Anne Hathaway over Sally Field. Hathaway is one of the most undeserving actresses out there today. She was awful in Batman and bearable in Les Mis but certainly not on the level of any of the other actresses.

Was that Sam Griesman (sp?) with his mom (Sally) at the Critics award show last night? If so, what a handsome handsome guy. Sally has to be so incredibly proud of him.

who knew Affleck would end up being suck a knockout director?

    well met.

that said, i’m going to continue blasting the original score from Cloud Atlas in defiance of that film being shut out of every single Academy category.

did the academy sleep through this film? it was the most technically-astounding film of the year.

@OS2Guy, you think Anne Hathaway was terrible in Dark Knight Rises? Wow, you must be hard to please. I just watched it recently and her performance, along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy completely overshadowed Christian Bale, which really surprised me. Haven’t seen Les Miz yet, but from what I’ve heard, Anne is amazing.
