CNN's Carol Costello and Wayne Besen Rip FRC's Peter Sprigg for His Anti-Gay Hate: VIDEO

CNN anchor Carol Costello, last seen on Towleroad hanging up on AFA hate group leader Bryan Fischer, sides with Truth Wins Out's Wayne Besen after he suggests it's odd that Family Research Council's Peter Sprigg is denouncing intolerance in the wake of the Giglio dismissal, considering Sprigg has called for the imprisonment and deportation of gays from the United States.

Interjects Costello, popping on to the screen: "Wait a minute. Wayne is right about that Peter."

  1. well, we saw/see the same thing with NOM.

"Oh, those intolerant liberals and gays! they're boycotting Christian things! they're working to make us traditionalists look bad! oh, by the way, we're raising money and petitions to get pro-equality people fired"

yes, bigots. some animals are created more equal than others. got it.

  2. Maybe CNN should splurge on some new video technology. That was extremely uncomfortable/annoying to watch.

  3. Sprigg's hypocrisy and piety are rather lovely.

it was like the Prop 8 donor fallout - "you people are actually persecuting US for our right to persecute you"

    except, no.

  4. The diatribe that starts at 5:18...."When you focus on the real issue, the sexual conduct..." Give me a break. You can be gay, just be celibate. That's what it's all about with them...the sex. They are so fascinated by gay sex. Guess what, not all gay people are about butt sex dude. There is more than one way to get your rocks off.

  5. to WOW's point - there are wayyy more straight people than gay people.

and thus, millions more "at-risk souls" who are engaging in sinful non-procreative sexual behavior.

remind me again where the bible says "Yo, God wants you to suck your husband's penis. but don't ever let him suck another man's"

  6. @Wow, I disagree, at least in the case of most homophobes (although I do think that people who make a living obsessing about gay sex, a la Peter Sprigg and Tony Perkins, are probably extremely self-loathing closet cases). If you look at more mainstream bigots, it's obvious that they are mostly threatened by public expressions of love, intimacy, and commitment between two men or two women, not sex (so long as it's on the down-low). Sodomy is legal in all 50 states and no one is seriously trying to recriminalize it. Marriage, however, is illegal for same-sex couples in 41 states.

Pity the poor preachers: they pretty much can't get away with railing against Blacks, Jews, etc, anymore.
WE SHOULD REPLY TO THIS ISSUE, NOT THE FALSE ISSUE THAT THEY HATE US - that only lets them to go to excuses

  8. I'd like the Religious Right to come to terms with the fact that many straights nowadays like anal sex. (I should say straights are reclaiming anal sex, since it's a traditional means of contraception.) That probably plays a role in why they don't care so much about LGBT folk.

  10. Until the religious wrong figures out that people are born gay, lesbian and transgender, they will always throw the bible in our faces, picking and choosing only those parts that fit their hateful thoughts. Tell me when was the last time a religious zealot stoned his kids with rocks for disobeying, anyone, anyone. I mean its in the bible.

  11. For me, this video is proof-positive that GLAAD's Commentator Accountability Project is working. When Besen called out Sprigg for wanting to jail and/or export gays from the U.S., Sprigg had some flippant response as per usual.

This is why we call them out. This is why we hold them to their own words. Sprigg knows that what he said will lose him money. Let's keep their feet to the fire, here.

  12. All this started with CNN's Crossfire and carried to its extreme by the FOX "fair and balanced; you decide" nonsense that has corrupted straight-up, factual American news presentations.

That this vile individual from the FRC would even be given a platform to present his "views" in an ersatz debate regarding the relentless demonization in the "name of God" of LGBT people by evangelicals such as he is absurd.
