Bryan Fischer Calls Boy Scouts 'Suicidal' for Accepting Gays, Warns of Pedophiles 'Bunking Down with Your Kid': VIDEO

Bsa_fischer

American Family Association hate group leader Bryan Fischer is going ballistic over the news that the Boy Scouts of America might drop its policy against gay scouts and scout leaders, claiming that "male homosexuals offend against children at roughly 10 times the rate at which heterosexuals offend" and warns that it's an open invitation to pedophiles.

Shrieks Fischer: "From this day forward, there is not one loving father in America that ever, ever, EVER oughta entrust his son to the Boy Scouts of America."

  1. I have a creepy feeling he got sexually excited giving that speech.

  2. How can it be 2013 and this man is still using this offensive tired lie!

  3. Where's the ignore button ? The media empowers these idiots and the more we pay attention to them the more coverage they get.

  4. Bryan, Bryan, Bryan, once again you’re confusing the BSA with the Catholic Church...

  5. I don't understand why he can't be sued for slander. He is knowingly using bogus stats against gay men. It is a well known, verifiable fact most men who molest boys identify as heterosexual.

  6. At least the BSA is a constructive use of time. The Catholic church? Never.

  7. Yeah, because grown men sleeping with boys wasn't a problem in the BSA before the evil homosexuals came along, Brian.

  8. I really wish someone would put this hateful old b*astard out of our misery.

  9. And remember, every single GOP presidential candidate went to pay homage to this man and get his blessing in 2012.

    Except for Fred Karger.

  10. Get over it. Your side has lost the cultural war. Even people like George Will and the advisor of Romney admitted that.

  11. IIRC at least one of the issues of LGBT troop leadership was a lesbian. I suppose Fischer would find a way to explain how she would molest boys.

@Michael: I'm not so sure he knows he's quoting discredited sources. The Religious Right loves to use real data from pre-AIDS publications as if it's still valid. The Religious Right, moreover, is totally deaf to the barrage of criticism about the publications of Regnerus and his ilk.

  12. I feel that Mr. Fischer's actions and reactions belie a fear of gay people that goes far beyond his mere concern. There is too much vitriol in his commentaries to not flip over this coin. We have all seen this far too many times to not know there is more here than meets the ear.

Does the phrase "You are what you fear" still have meaning?

  15. I would like to ignore him, but what he says is dangerous. Someone would actually take him seriously.

  16. Doesn't Fischer know that most Pedofiles are actually married men, while there is very little evidence that gay men are pedofiles or have pedofile tendencies. Although, I am sure he knows that, but why let facts get in the way of his rhetoric!

  17. ... never mind all the little girls being abused by men, right?

Sure hope this guy doesn't have kids. Does he have kids? *shudder*

  18. @Tom in Long Beach: the reason it can "be 2013 and this man is still using this offensive tired lie" is that the AFA has not yet run out of money and his talk-radio show is still running, giving him a means of support. Besides, it is easier to rehash the same old garbage than to come up with new material, and people are more likely to believe a lie if it is repeated enough.

BTW, check out his bio on wikipedia. Seems he had an undergraduate degree in philosophy from Stanford, then went to the Dallas Theological Seminary, and now works as an equal-opportunity bigot. The Mormons don't like him either due to his anti-Mormon statements.

I guess one question is whether he actually believes what he spews or is it all just an act to appeal to a right-wing, redneck audience.

  19. According to Wikipedia, Fischer has two children. No names, sexes, or ages were given in the article.

  20. Sure, BSA is mightily threatened by out gay men and youngsters. It is the pedophiles that hide their sexual desires that BSA need to worry about. Given this fanatics obsession with sex, I would certainly keep my eye on him around children.

  21. Bryan. Where have you been? Pedophiles have BEEN bunking down with kids in the BSA. or do the tip top secret double probation files the Mormons keep mean nothing to you?

  22. Children would probably be safer with a sex offender than with BF.

  23. I've read these bogus "studies" that anti-gay groups use. They use several tricks to falsify the numbers.
For anyone who doesn't know, here's basically how it works:
Imagine you have a village of 100 people, which includes 2 gay men, 2 gay women, 48 straight men and 48 straight women.
Now let's say that everyone in that village (including all 4 gay-identifying residents) is a model law-abiding citizen except ONE man. He and his wife have one girl and one boy and he has sexually abused both of them in order to feel a twisted sense of power.
He not only identifies as straight but is only attracted to women and finds the thought of sex with a man repulsive.

Using the anti-gay system of pseudo-science, someone like Paul Cameron (who lost his standing with the APA in disgrace because of these falsified studies) would count the number of males who were molested by males as "1".
Then he would count the number of females who were molested by a male as "1". Then he would decide that since that same molester had molested a son as well as a daughter, he will just classify each of the 2 victims (male or female) as having been attacked by a "homosexual molester."
Then he would count the number of people in town who self-identified as gay in a survey, and the number is two.
So then he would say that in such a town there are 2 gay males and two gay molesters (even though in reality there are ZERO molesters there who identify as gay, and never mind that he just turned one person into two people by counting molesters by the number of victims).
So he could conclude that 100% of the gay men in town are molesters. It matters not at all to him that ZERO of the people in town who identify as gay did anything wrong.
The four gay people in my hypothetical village get barred from scouting activities and homophobes tell the townsfolk that this "protects" them.

(Fischer's "studies" do ennsentially the same bogus calculations except with larger numbers).

Bryan Fischer must already know that the "studies" he cites have fudged the numbers on purpose. I find it easier to believe thst he thinks that lying is justifed by what he sees as the lofty gosl of demonixing gay people, rather than that he is stupid enough to not understand that what he's saying isn't true.

  24. @GregV: I think your scenario is too complicated for the "principal investigators" of the anti-gay "studies".

Unlike you, I find it easier to believe that he is stupid enough to not understand that what he's saying isn't true.

  25. You evil asshat, don't you think there's allways been gay scout leaders? They just had to hide.
