  1. A perfect and touching blend of talents, all of whom faced tragedy up close.

  7. I've thought for years the "America the Beautiful" should be an acceptable "alternate" national anthem--one whose melody isn't based on an English drinking song, and that people can actually sing. This performance definitely underscored that argument (Alicia Keys' lovely job on "The Star Spangled Banner" notwithstanding).

  8. What Really? said.

  9. I thought it was kind of exploitative. Yeah, it's nice for the kids, but you know that many of the people watching can get all choked up watching this one minute and then go pay their NRA dues the next. And many of the corporate money flowing into the game is from right-leaning companies who are definitely not supportive of gun regulation. So, sure, bring out the kids to make everyone feel like we're collectively a better country and culture than we are.

  10. That was inappropriate and yes, exploitative in a bad way.

I love how the major corporations who run and advertise at Super Bowl never fail to wrap themselves in the flag and patriotism when it suits them financially. Otherwise, they generally behave like psychopathic scum who have no problem selling anybody or place down the river.

  12. This is what America does best: pats itself on the back in the most showy and inappropriate and cynical way.

    Revolting!

I don't mean the kids, God bless 'em, but the sheer exploitation of a tragic situation.

  14. Can anything be done to shut this woman up? It is inconceivable to me that anybody things she sounds good.

  15. Exploitative, nauseating and inappropriate indeed!

  16. while it could indeed be seen as exploitation and pandering to a sentimental side without actually doing anything to confront the actual issues at hand, there's something to be said for giving these young kids a distraction.

truly. give them something positive to not only look forward to, but to think back on . some other "big new memory" to help ease them through what no doubt goes through their heads and hearts every single day.

and hudson joining them is and was perfectly fitting.

  17. I BELIEVE THE PERFORMANCE WAS AMAZING. I FEEL THAT IT GAVE THOSE CHILDREN A SENSE OF WORTH. THEY ARE APPRECIATED AND NOT FORGOTTEN. SO WHAT IF PEOPLE GET A LITTLE CHOKED UP, IF YOU DID JUST MEANS YOU HAVE A HEART. GREAT JOB SANDY HOOK STUDENTS, AND THANK YOU JENNIFER HUDSON FOR GIVING THOSE CHILDREN A POSITIVE LIGHT TO SHINE IN. WONDERFUL!!
