Lawrence O'Donnell Rips Conservative Pundit Bill Kristol and Cardinal Dolan for Bigotry: VIDEO

Yesterday I reported that conservative pundit Bill Kristol said the decision to get on the marriage equality train by some members of his party will "earn the contempt" of the GOP base and called those choosing to support it "pathetic".

And Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York said gays are entitled to friendship but not marriage.

Last night, Lawrence O'Donnell gave them a piece of his mind.

  2. It's just amazing that these grown men have no idea of how Today's Generations view the galling bigotry of previous generations.

I can only suspect that they live in Bigot Bubbles and that they've not yet realized that the rest of the world is utterly moving on, and will view them one day with disgust and disdain.

That said, there are still some people who manage to think fondly about Jesse Helms. Which is hilarious, because if "Hell" existed Jesse Helms would be there - up to his neck in flammable feces.

many families today are bloody lucky that an age of hand-recorded info means folks today don't know about their own family's sordid legacies of slavery, pro-segregation, etc.

digital age recording and documentation of familial anti-gay bigotry? congrats - recorded for all time. it'll haunt your bloodlines.

  4. One more thing about Lawrence. He has been one of the few to call out Bill Clinton for signing DOMA and all the weak excuses he gave for it,as well as other Democrats who have "evolved" on this issue.

  5. I believe I'm correct in referring to Lawrence O'Donnell as an "enlightened Catholic" or one who can see through the BS edicts from Vatican City that are disregarded by the majority of US Papists. He has been a staunch SSM supporter on his MSNBC show for a long time.

  6. People like Timmy Dolan or Bill Kristal wouldn't be around if there weren't a large number of people supporting them. Unfortunately, Dolan and Kristal aren't leaders, they just happen to be loudest amongst equals. They don't bring people to a larger goal, they keep them in the dark, dank, squirming cesspool they feed from.

  7. Catholicism needs to be banished from America. There is no excuse for anyone, gay or straight, to follow the Catholic faith.

  8. I keep hearing that the "new generation" will be more tolerant. I just spent Easter with Catholic relatives. Even the 5 year old grandson was a homophobe. It might take longer than you think for the bigotry to die out! It took the RCC 500 years to apologize for it's mistreatment of Galileo.

  9. @Mike Here's a little known fact to ponder: the U.S. did not have diplomatic relations with The Vatican until January 10, 1984 when President Ronald Reagan agreed to formally recognize The Vatican as a sovereign state and on March 7, 1984, the U.S. Senate confirmed the first U.S. Ambassador to The Holy See.

Therefore, I have always wondered why our federal government, under existing U.S. law, does not mandate that any priest, bishop or cardinal who speaks out on secular, political issues or actively lobbies on behalf of the Catholic Church in any state or federal legislature, does not require that they register as an agent of a foreign government.

  10. Rule No. 1: never use the words "conservative" and "intellectual" in the same sentence. They contradict each other.

Rule No. 2: never, ever take William Kristol seriously about anything. The last time anyone did, we ended up in a costly, useless, futile, destructive war in Iraq, the repercussions of which we are still dealing with today.

William Kristol has blood on his hands and some bad, bad karma coming his way.

  11. And Catholics are entitled to pray at an altar, but NOT prey on altar boys.

  12. I adore Lawrence O'Donnell. I can't believe he's in his 60s (as am I). Long may he reign!

  13. Thank you, finally someone calling bullshiz on 'his eminence' Timothy Dolan... what a blowhard.

If he ever had the same patronizing attitude toward any other group of people, he'd be laughed out of town... but somehow he gets a pass on the gays, even becoming another (big) mouthpiece for these out of touch, predator protecting, better-than, privileged, turds in dresses.
