Actors, Live Audience Scatter as Man Fires Gun at Cannes: VIDEO

Cannes

Crowds at a live TV taping featuring actor Christopher Waltz scattered after a man fired a handgun, the Guardian reports:

"The bodyguards jumped over the barriers into the crowd and pulled him [the suspect] to the ground. The police arrived and told everyone to run because there was a grenade in his hand," one eyewitness told Reuters.

French authorities, who arrested the man at the scene, confirmed he was carrying a dummy grenade and a knife. A police source said: "It really appears to be a crazy guy."

Live footage showed actors and film crew scrambling from the seaside stage. The programme was taken off air temporarily, but continued minutes later after the programme's producer said: "The show must go on."

  1. Christoph Waltz minced and lisped all over the screen on "Django Unchained" to the point I thought he was playing a gay character. If you don't agree with me, you have to admit his character was way more effeminate than he was in "Water For Elephants" and "Inglorious Basterds." I don't think his character had a wife or kids in the movie, right? Did anyone else notice this?

  3. What on earth is wrong with the actors, crew and onlookers for scattering? Don't they know that guns make us safer? Sure, they might have been slaughtered, but they'd have been slaughtered SAFELY. They must be utter foools for not knowing that. I mean, the NRA wouldn't lie about it, would they?

  6. concur, jomicur.
clearly the solution is for everyone to have a loaded gun on them because nothing says "safety!" than a crowd of scared and confused people having deadly weapons on their person.

  7. Clutch the pearls.

Seriously, to those who are petrified of firearms and believe no one should be legally allowed to own one, you'd be d*mn happy to have one on you if confronted by someone out to hurt, even kill you, and police, as is their want, minutes away when seconds count.

  11. Why is everyone reporting this as a story about Christoph Waltz when Daniel Auteuil is sitting right next to him and is the guy actually being interviewed..?
