Chelsea Clinton Reiterates Commitment to Gay Rights, Equality

The AP looks at Chelsea Clinton's work with her family's foundation:

C_clintonShe added that besides the Clinton Foundation's initiatives, she was committed to supporting gay rights, including marriage equality.

"It just seems so fundamental to me. I'm able to marry the person I wanted to marry," Clinton said. "That's the fundamental human imperative. Those of us who have been lucky enough should expand these rights to others."

Clinton often tweets messages supportive of gay rights. Earlier this month, she called it "progress" when France's new gay marriage law came into force and urged her followers to help build "an equitable world for all" while marking International Day Against Homophobia.

  2. Does she condemn GLAAD for honouring the signer of the horrifically bigoted DOMA law (her Dad Bill Clinton).

Does she condemn Bill Clinton for using the fact that he signed DOMA as a campaigning tool?

Does she think Bill Clinton should apologize for the untold damage that DOMA has done to countless LGBT lives.

  3. It seems silly to still blame Clinton for a law passed nearly 18 years ago that even today we still can't manage to change through legislative means. We're still sitting around waiting on the Supreme Court to overturn it, rather than just use our own resources to promote legislation to repeal it.

But keep pointing the finger at Clinton while frankly doing nothing in the process to actually change the world you live in.

  5. at least bill clinton has publicly stated he regrets doma - the house ended up impeaching him anyway.

the house republicans started day one trying to find something to hang on the clintons - white water, cattle futures, travel office firings, fbi files, vince foster, paula jones, campaign calls, white house visitors, pardons, etc. - any of this sound familiar?

it's like deja vu all over again!

  6. No can do - the Clintons are a political dynasty and therefore unless Chelsea Clinton makes clear her opinion on her father's disgusting behaviour regarding DOMA and his disgusting refusal to apologize for it, the she should be ignored.

Nepotism is a huge factor in US politics - we have Bill Clinton to thank for the political careers of Hillary and Chelsea.

Bill Clinton is a pathetic man whose signing of DOMA has damaged more LGBT lives than George W Bush or Ken Mehlman did.

Forgive me for refusing to accept Chelsea Clinton's empty gestures of support.

  8. @Littel Kiwi. Your comments tells us more about your character than any thing you say about the Clintons.
A big thank you to Chelsea Clinton for supporting equal rights for all.

  11. She is so selfless. What motive, if any, could she have in making these statements. I'm only sorry she married the wrong guy.
