  1. Dammit! Minnesota is _not_ the first midwest state to approve same sex marriage. Iowa (which definitely is a midwest state) has had same sex marriage since 2009 which is four years with my sketchy math skills. IOWA IS A MIDWEST STATE!

  2. Yes, Iowa is a midwest state...but they approved it through judicial action. Minnesota is the first to approve it through bill passage through House and Senate...

  4. I recognize the difference between Iowa's path to marriage equality (judicial) and Minnesota's (legislative), I just wish this interview would have made this clearer. Still, I'm more impressed with the fact that Iowa's bravery created a political climate that lead to Minnesota to join in the momentum from a legislative angle. This is history in the making, folks. We are witnessing an avalanche of change.
