Jon Stewart is High on Toronto Mayor Rob Ford: VIDEO

Ford_stewart

On Friday, news emerged that uber-homophobe Toronto Mayor Rob Ford had been captured on a video smoking crack-cocaine. Jon Stewart thinks we should give Ford a break because perhaps it's just a plan by the mayor to clean up the city's crack problem by smoking all of it himself.

He also takes a look at two other videos of Ford that may be just as humiliating.

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

And here are Samantha Bee and Jason Jones on Canada's two largest industries:

  1. Am I incorrect, but isn't that pic of Ford standing between the two dealers fake? Not defending Ford, he obviously is anti-gay, but my understanding is that pic is fake.

And that video hasn't been proven to be real or not, either. If it should turn out to be fake, many people will look bad. Although it wouldn't surprise me if it is real. But people [minus sh*t stirrers and trolls] should wait until there's more proof it's in fact real. Ford has a lot of enemies and he's loathed by a hardcore element who would stoop to that level to get him. Again, I'm not defending the guy's politics and attitude.

  5. @ratbastard -- No one has confirmed or denied the legitimacy of the photo but two reporters from the Toronto Star viewed the video that allegedly shows Mayor Ford smoking crack and they both said they were shocked at how clear and vivid the tape was. There was a man who looked and sounded like an inebriated Rob Ford, smoking from what appeared to be a crack pipe, calling the man who could be the future Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, a "fag." I just wish someone would purchase the video so we could be done with this already. Ford's inability to deal with situation is indicative of his inability to lead. Period.

  6. Where's Toronto?

  7. Fake as in that isn't Ford or that he was photoshopped in? I haven't heard anything about the photo being fake, only that it wasn't directly connected to the video.

As for the video, the reporters who were following the story for months (before Gawker broke it) say that it is quite clearly Ford and that he's quite clearly smoking crack. None of which would be much of a surprise given his substance abuse track record. His denials have been, shall we say, unconvincing. And his track record of being an anti-gay pig is about as real as you can get. No one should be shedding tears if his career goes down, as it likely will. (Harper's is looking shaking at the moment, too.)

  8. what's bothersome about the video is the six-figure amount the owners of it are demanding. Sorry, but I don't think drug dealers should be getting paid six freakin' figures. How about Doing The Right Thing (a spike lee joint) and just releasing it?

Anyway, it's totally not faked. Ford is a brutal embarrassment to the city of Toronto, and the mayoral voting breakdown shows exactly why the city's mid-90s amalgamation of the many districts and boroughs into one big Megacity was a disaster (literally, folks - nobody in th CITY voted for him. it was the suburbs. we have a mayor whose contempt for the actual city is palpable).

Stewart nails it. As per usual.

Check this out, however - http://youtu.be/e1yEwQgZrqM

this was the day after the scandal broke. Oh, the IRONY!

  9. Any good politician is going to be able to fit right in with the circumstances of his/her constituents. As they say, when in Rome...

  10. Can't the RCMP or Ontario provincial police, Toronto police, somebody in authority, get their hands on the original video? Don't they know who is shopping it around and where to find them? This is serious stuff. It would seem serious action needs to be taken, not wait for some media outlet or group to 'buy' the video from a drug gain.

  11. if the guy was really a regular crack smoker, wouldn't he be considerably slimmer?

  12. I wish there were some way to get this man so he has no actual power but has all the same spotlight as the mayor of Toronto- this guy is a trainwreck in motion and it's terribly entertaining but unfortunately he is also the top municipal executive for one of the larger cities in north america :b

  13. It just keeps getting better! "Players on the Don Bosco Eagles football team are backing now ex-coach Mayor Rob Ford, who was dumped Wednesday by the Toronto Catholic District School Board." http://www.torontosun.com/2013/05/22/mayor-rob-ford-axed-as-don-bosco-football-coach

Now he doesn't have to worry about video of him falling down while throwing a football, though I expect he'll continue to walk into news cameras. (One of the Ford scandals was that he had a bus diverted from its normal route, during a storm, to pick up his footbal team.)
