  1. So, two references to lyrics from the Staying Alive movie soundtrack.

  2. Wow... it sucks. Sounds like nothing new in any aspect to music.

  3. But the vocals are outstanding.

  5. the artwork is a direct lift or homage to an iconic photo of the ICON Mr. Iggy Pop in the early 70's.

  6. She should do a duet with Cyndi Lauper

  7. I like it. It will most likely be a hit. I think it's generic enough

  8. I like it. Inspirational and immediately catchy and I love her voice. This is gonna be huge.

  9. I swear her lyrics are sophomoric, as in written by a 10th grader. But it's pop schmaltz and will be a bit of hit.

Don't think the chorus is catchy or strong enough to be a major hit though.

  10. This song is a blatant rip-off of Sara Bareilles's "Brave." Utterly shameless--and this is her first new single? What a hack!

  13. MJ & Brian are right. It's probably not close enough of a rip-off for legal action, but it's pretty clear where Perry's inspiration came from.

Listen to Bareilles' song. It's superior in every aspect.

  14. As a graphic designer, I am shocked at the tackiness and amateur-ness of that cover art. Yuck.

  15. "404 - Oops, we couldn't find that sound."

  16. Katy Perry can't sing. Her voice is the product of a machine. She has released a number of homophobic songs. Why is Towleroad promoting homophobia?

    Posted by: Brian | Aug 10, 2013 5:59:34 PM

  17. Brian,

Actually, her voice isn't that bad. It's not the best, but it's good enough for a pop star. And homophobic songs? She's definitely a friend to the gay community.

  18. Oh good, another hit for her! Seems that all the best-selling music nowadays contain only the simplest vocals and repetitive sound effects, digitized no less.

  19. i love it - i love her - and i love music. i like the message of the song

  20. @ DREW:

That's because today's pop "music" is only appealing to tweens and teens. And to "adults" with the mentality and taste of a teenager.

  21. Hey Audi-owner. Wanna tell me when's the last time there wasn't pop music that appealed to kids? I mean, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s...allllllllllll full of teenybopper pop. Don't act like this is the only thing people listen to.
