  1. what? a singer whose talent is bigger than her ego? someone who can actually sing? what? no weak-voiced dancer/model sold as a singer? Hey, VMAs! where were the singers?

  3. She sounds great, the track is like a buffet of all the production gimmicks, beats, etc currently dominating pop music. Hot mess, not sure if in a good way.

  4. Love her voice, not the song. She does ballads so well. She should do something like Babs' Broadway Album which was such a hit for her after a long spell of mediocre pop songs. Didn't she collect a Grammy for it?

  5. Sia wrote this emotional song for Celine....and by all accounts they worked very well together. I like this new direction, almost dubstep. That voice.....amazing.

  6. Barbra Streisand certainly did collect a Grammy for "The Broadway Album" , one of her 5 greatest albums ever! A true masterpiece.
Can't believe it was released 28 years ago....

  7. I love it. An amazing beat with an equally gorgeous melody and that voice is one in a million.

  10. I live in Vegas, and whenever I see one of her Billboards, I think of Whitney Houston and what might have been...had Ms. Houston found protection, honored her voice, and maintained a low profile of health, safety and privacy when she wasn't performing and showcasing her amazing talent. Say what you will about Celine Dion----she's nurtured her voice and talent like very few singers have. Frankly, I would love for her to do a Country Album. She can sing anything.

  11. This IS a ballad. Circa 2013.

Chasing trends? Maybe a little, but here's the thing: sure someone like Rhianna might have recorded this song, but it wouldn't have sounded like this if she did.

You need a voice to sound like this.

I'm so glad to hear Celine is making fantastic music that's relevant again.

  12. Two women I adore Celine and Sia.

  13. Sounds damn good. It's a little jarring at first to hear a Rihanna/KatyPerry/TaylorSwift-like track with actual skilled vocals. She should release more songs like this.

About Whitney. Everyone has their own path to walk. I think Whitney said herself that she struggled with her public image and that some people thought her singing wasn't black enough or some thought it was too black. She was trying to hold on to her fanbase in the black community and hold on to the broad mainstream appeal at the same time. And then in her later years she was still trying to hold on to the younger demographic. Once a musician hits a certain age, its a losing battle to hold onto the party-party fanbase.
