Rachel Maddow on the Sudden Crush Anti-Gay Conservatives Have on Vladimir Putin: VIDEO

Maddow

Rachel Maddow takes a look at the sudden crush conservatives and anti-gay "pro-family" groups have on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"It’s one thing for the right to fall in love with its own politicians, to make Reagan a saint, Sarah Palin their own collective girlfriend, but the president of Russia, he is not that into you. Seriously, I know you guys hate President Obama, so it feels good to have a man-crush on somebody else, but this guy is the president of Russia. Zip it up, you guys, seriously. Have some respect."

  2. Putin made an idiot of Obama, so naturally she's pissed. Yeah Miss Rachel, tell us ALL about falling in love with politicians.

  3. I knew these guys were idiots, but even I was amazed at the depths of their ignorance and stupidity. Putin... move to Russia... Really? The hilarious thing about it would be they would quickly find themselves in the gulag when spouting their nonsense. I have honestly never seen such an embarrassing display of whiners in my life... sitting in their bubble vibrating in the reverberation of their hypocritical do as I say not as I do dream world. Pathetic.

  4. It is so much easier as a leader to secure your agenda without a democracy, so it fits well with some right-wing thinkers who believe the end justifies the means.

Obama seems to be getting what he wants through democracy (the destruction of chemical weapons), and with the help of Putin who has until now backed Assad at every turn against Obama's intentions.

  5. This is nothing new. The Republicans' core job since 2008 was to see that Obama did not get a second term. When that failed they switched their focus from ABO (anybody but Obama) to sabotaging anything and everything that Obama did to try to legislate. The Republicans really do need to change the name of the party to what it is the Obstructionist part.

  6. There are, also, Americans who have a favourable view of President Putin's opposition to US military intervention in Syria and his stand against Al-Qaeda's coming to power in that country. Many of these
Americans have no sympathy for the anti-gay stances that Putin has taken.

  7. @Mike, lol... You think Putin would have bothered with his "diplomacy" if Obama hadn't threatened U.S. military action?

Your anti-Maddow sentiment is understandable since her segment here is all about people like you.

  8. The right wing Republicans feel warm and fuzzy about Putin because he like them is an authoritarian,

  9. The only thing I care about Putin is boycotting him and Russia by encouraging and pressurizing all artists to refuse to go there.
Athletes and sports people please copy !

Thank you Cher for standing tall.

  10. mike

    How?

Obama's stance on syria forced Russia (the supplier of syria's chemical weapons) to broker a deal

there is no assad regime without russia weapon sales so Obama did great by forcving Putin's hand

  11. RJ: That's the part that these people want to avoid, without the treathen of a war (that nobody wanted) it won't be resolution at all.
Putin had a lot of time to came with that resolution, but it wasn't until the threat of the attack when he decided to move his ass

  12. People like Mike are the perfect example of a naive gay republican that thinks anything that possibly makes Obama look bad is a victory. Such is the right's desperation for some "gppd" news even if its at the expense of the US.

Obama is now actually getting what he wants.

  14. @JJOSE712 ... Putin's support for destroying Syria's chemical weapons is pretty self-serving. He wants to keep the Assad regime in power so that Russia would continue to have a loyal customer for weapons and munitions.

  15. Russia sells billions a year in armaments to Syria and their only naval station in the Mediterranean is in Syria so of course Putin didn't want any military action there from the US or an international coalition. Duh. Is it a good thing that he was able to use influence to get Assad to agree to get rid of chemical weapons. Absolutely. Why not point out that was the least he could do and maintain status quo in Syria once Obama threatened military intervention? No, Fox couldn't do that. That wouldn't work well with their never ending game plan of 'anything to make Obama look bad' so instead they preen Putin as a hero to the Fox style conservatives.

Fox wasn't interested in presenting an image of Putin as any thing other than a tool to bash Obama. They could somehow completely ignore Putin's rebuke of 'American Exceptionalism' which is a Fox standard, ignore that Russia blocked a UN imitative for involvement 10 days prior, ignore that Putin supplies the Syrian armaments, ignore that Putin backs human rights violations in his own country not only to LGBT but to migrants and religions other than Christian, all for the sake of bashing Obama. Ailes brands it as 'news' and the neocons lap it up like manna.

  16. Nothing worse to a lesbian than a man with his shirt off. They feel nothing. Just like we do when a woman takes off her top -- nothing. I suspect Rachel is just a bit jealous because Putin gets to live her secret dream. I was at a party with a shirtless Rita Mae Brown once. We can't forget that Miss Liberal Cool Maddow, is still a lesbian -- a foreign being to the male homosexual. We do very different things at night.

  17. I disagree fiercely with Putin. I'm as socially conservative as they come. Maddow shouldn't assume US social conservatives--like me-- agree with taking away with free speech rights or anything that causes bullying of gays and lesbians.

(We may disagree with the root cause of such immoral bullying, but that's not why I posted this).

I hope you know, we're not all haters.

  18. Disagreement is always "hate" on here. Making excuses to someone you've never met may be good for your soul, but who are you protecting? We're not babies. Telling the naked truth is always better. Maddow's ratings are in the toilet. Can't risk offending a TV personality. Have you been to Russia? You believe what you're told.
You hear it from a liberal female Bill O'Reilly (no offense to Bill)

  19. Why do conservatives hate America so much?

  20. What a naive pretending and stupid liberal question.

    Posted by: Tim | Sep 15, 2013 1:01:10 AM

  21. OH it's Tim, the not so bright dingbat from the other thread. Tim, you look like dumb tools when you sit there and lick Putin's ass. You're a laughingstock to all the Americans with brains--something you & your brethren couldn't possibly understand. When Putin, the communist leader you now so admire talked about how Americans are not exceptional, I believe he had people like you and the idiotic conservatives in mind.

  22. You may get a world where only a small class of people will not only have the power to define reality but the power to force the rest of us to live in it whether we like it or not. I'm no conservative, your letting your fantasies about Putin get the better of you. Go -uck yourself.

  23. It would only have taken a couple of minutes for Obama and Putin to agree on a tactic regarding Syria. If you model Assad as a stubborn mule, you have Putin waving a carrot in front of its mouth while Obama is poised with a bat aimed at its rear end. The hope is that the bat will "encourage" the mule to notice the carrot and move in its general direction.

  24. Bunch of damn traitors, turn their backs on America for Putin. The far right turn my stomach. Go a head move to Russia, maybe we can turn this country around with them gone.
