MSNBC's Thomas Roberts Grills RNC Chair Reince Priebus About Shutdown, Obamacare: VIDEO

Thomas Roberts got into it today with RNC Chair Reince Priebus over the shutdown and House GOP demands on Obamacare.

“Have you been watching the news?” he said, referencing glitches consumers have experienced in trying to access online exchanges. “At the very least, at this very moment, Obamacare’s not ready for prime time.”

When asked by host Thomas Roberts to explain House Republicans’ unwillingness to pass a clean continuing resolution bill without ties to delays in Obamacare, Priebus blamed the president for refusing to negotiate, before turning the crosshairs on his interviewer.

“It sounds like I’m debating the chair of the DNC,” Priebus said to Roberts. Priebus also advised Roberts to watch Schoolhouse Rock for lessons on how a bill becomes law.

“So we have to capitulate to whatever the president wants?” asked Priebus.

“No, you have to govern,” said Roberts.

Asks Roberts, later: "Is this really what the Tea Party conservatives have wanted all along is to demonstrate the power that they have on being able to 'choke out' the American people?"

  1. Reince Priebus is such a disgusting and petty man. When he watches these interviews how can he possibly be happy with his debating style and civility. What a worm.

  2. i think when you surround youself with people even less intelligent than yourself, you end up not realizing what a fool you are.

i had classmates at uni that were from "Fox News Families" - and every single other classmate in the school viewed them all as the complete and utter idiots that they were, and are.

  4. The Republicans are just total idiots. Vote every one of them out of office the next time you vote. Make sure we throw their cans out of Congress and the House of Representatives. They are deadset on destroying this country. Idiots. Just total idiots.

  5. I would have figured a report wouldn't let his political bias shows, but then I realize Thomas Roberts works for MSNBC.

  6. Thomas is too nice. In a past TV show, this jerk said to Chris Matthew : "I am not going to get into a shouting match with you." Chris said : "because you are losing."

  7. I read this on Gawker earlier today:

"If you remove the vowels from Reince Priebus' name you end up with: RNC PR BS"

    Thought it was good.

  8. Roberts time has passed. He needs to leave. Hope he can still make the payments on his luxurious love nest, with his "perfect" husband.
    He's a compliant gay robot.

  9. Reince is a vile little man. He's in exactly the right job.

  10. This whole "we don't don't negotiate with terrorists" thing is really coming back to to bite the GOP in the ass doesn't it? Now if the "government" would only call in the SWAT teams to take out these assholes holding a knife to the throat of the American people...

  11. Nice to see the trolls showed up.
All THomas did was call this guy out on his BS and nothing more then that.

  12. roberts should have never started speaking while priebus was still talking. when priebus interrupted, roberts was right to have kept going.

the crosstalk made the segment unwatchable.

  13. Kevin wants Thomas so bad. He keeps windex handy to clean the TV screen.

  14. We all do, Vin. We all do.

Except for Dan. He pleasures himself to Mitch McConnell interviews.

  15. I like Tom Roberts, but he shouldn't be letting an interview descend
into a shouting match. It's what makes TV hard to watch. One can ask tough questions without being rude.

Look, I hate Priebus as much as anyone else, but treating him rudely means that he won't come back to MSNBC. And that limits the amount of diversity of arguments....even the ones that I completely disagree with.

  16. I totally agree with Thomas . . . but letting an interview turn into a crosstalking shouting match is simply bad journalism. Like northalabama said, it's unwatchable, and therefore defeats Thomas's reason for being on the air with Priebus.

A better journalist would have kept feeding Priebus questions and lines with which to hang himself. A good journalist doesn't have to splice the rope and haul a fool up in the air, he lets him do that to himself.

  17. Preibus shouldn't be allowed on the Air.

  18. Priebus comes off as an ass clown. He is no debater. Like so many Republicans, he hears a different question than is being asked. He has answers off topic. It's like being forced to hear pink slime instead of eating it!
