Tony Perkins Angry That Gays Are Signing Up For Obamacare

PerkinsBecause Tony Perkins and his ilk aren't happy unless LGBT citizens are kept sick, oppressed, and alone, the FRC is upset that gays are signing up for Obamacare. Reacting to the Out2Enroll campaign, an independent movement targeting the disproportionately uninsured LGBT community, Tony Perkins launched into a rant about how "a high risk pool fed by even higher risk behavior" would destroy the medical care system due to the increased medical demand. Perhaps it's somewhat comforting to know that it's not just the "cross-dressing men" who he thinks aren't deserving of health care, but everyone who isn't already a young, healthy individual. Perkins said in part:

As taxpayers are about to find out, the system wasn't designed to withstand the volume of elderly, sick, and at-risk patients most likely to enroll. Either the exchanges will buckle under the weight or the government (i.e. taxpayers) will start shouldering even higher costs to compensate for the medical demand.

So in short, anyone who needs health care insurance is a drain on the system for the healthy people who evidently need it more.

  1. And he is still shocked that his group is called a hate group when such a large percentage of their efforts and words and daily works surround an obsession with the gay community and it's oppression. Dude, get a life!

  3. Tony-how much energy does it take to spew so much hate on a daily basis???? It must be exhausting and certainly not healthy for the "families" that you purport to defend and champion. Hypocritical and so un-Christian ---but then hypocrisy and hate are the only thing you have going for you- certainly not the truth -and by the way- enjoy celebrating your imaginary friend in the sky's season of love.

  4. That's why there is requirement that everyone has medical insurance. That way, the young and healthy balance out people with chronic illnesses.

Insurance are going to go down in the long run. Why do you think you can get such cheap car insurance now? It used to be prohibitively expensive until coverage was mandated.

  6. Charming family values! The gays deserve to get sick and die because they are promiscuous. But don't encourage them to commit to monogamous relationships in marriage because only straight people are entitled to it.

In the darkest recesses of my heart, I must admit that it wouldn't bother me if this creature died of a long and excruciatingly painful disease. Some people just deserve it.

  7. wow- what a legacy this man leaves his family - ---- years from now, could you imagine being his kid, having to answer the question....
    "what did your dad do?"

  8. Perhaps one of Tony's cherished WASP support groups - the KKK - has a health plan that insures him and his family. That'd be right up his bigoted alley.

  9. The real shame is that the MSM continue to have him on news segments and never divulge that he is the mouthpiece for a hate group because of the lies he tells.

  10. Tony Perkins is angry, that pretty much sums it up. He, and his ilk, are desperately trying to stay relevant at this point, I was hoping his head would explode over Utah and New Mexico.

  11. So let's see....my husband can't be put on my employer-provided healthcare, because I work for a state agency in a non-equality state. But he shouldn't get Obamacare either.

But it's okay--because Perkins is against the ill and the elderly getting healthcare, too.

My parents paid for my health insurance until I was in my early twenties. I paid for it through most of my twenties, and all of my thirties and forties. In all that time, there were maybe two or three years when the claims were more than the annual premiums. Now that I'm in my fifties, the balance will probably begin to tip. But so what? That's how insurance plans work. Get over it, Tony.

  12. I think anti-gays need to pretend places like Canada don't exist. If health-care and equality for gays was so dangerous, shouldn't Canada have been cleaved off the continent and pushed under the sea by 'angry God' already? ... or fallen into disrepair like "the Roman empire" as I so often hear by histrionic anti-gays?
    It's beyond absurd.

  14. Idiot - it isn't the case anywhere in the world that offers universal healthcare, but that would be a fact and we know they work on gossip, fake studies and innuendo as thier sources. Thank God only a few crazies believe him.

  19. You've got to feel sorry for Perkins. He and his allies are trying to stop Western Civilization's movement toward full equality for all it's citizens. He must know that he is on the losing side and that history will not remember those of his ilk kindly.

  22. We only have to LOOK AT MASSACHUSETTS where they've had a similar to the ACA/Obamacare type individual mandate system since 2006 - and it showed no signs of it being unsustainable.

Nor did it drive away small or large business, it didn't cause care rationing, doctors didn't suddenly start leaving or retiring, hospitals weren't overrun, and people didn't boycott signing up for insurance.
None of the stuff people say the ACA will cause happened in Massachusetts... nor did it happen in any of the countries with similar systems up-and-running for years.

    -- see also --
Australia: Similar to ACA system since 1984
Switzerland: Similar to ACA system since 1996
Netherlands: Similar to ACA system since 2006
    -- and also --
Israel: Similar-ish insurance mandate system since 1995
Japan: Similar-ish insurance mandate system since 1961
