Boxing Champ Evander Holyfield: Being Gay 'is a Choice' and Gays are 'Handicapped': VIDEO

Holyfield

Former heavyweight champion boxer Evander Holyfield is making headlines in Britain for remarks he made on UK Celebrity Big Brother that being gay is being "handicapped" and "is a choice."

He added, "What would be good about it? That ain’t normal."

Holyfield was warned by the show's producers in a 'private' talk that his comments were "extremely offensive" and have caused outrage from viewers, including pop star Boy George, who tweeted, "Shame, I had such admiration for Mr Evander Holyfield, he seemed dignified and I was sure he was a cool, smart, giant!", later adding, "I think anyone visiting this country for any reason should be cautioned and forced to swear allegiance to 'Queens & country!!," before adding: "At customs there should be a huge sign! Welcome to Britain, racism, sexism, homophobia and bad hair are not tolerated!"

  1. Boxing Champ. Makes me cringe. Anyone that bashes the crap out of another human being for a living is not normal. Scum.

  2. Agree, Queen George’s bad hair should not be tolerated.

  3. If we are going by numbers then being black isn't "normal" either.

  4. Another day, another public figure demeaning us as people.

Too bad ignorance is normal because Evander sure is full of it.

  5. Ok, everybody should know that Holyfield is ignorant. That's why his view dealing with sexuality does not bother me at all.

With those beliefs and words out of his mouth, Holyfield's brain is clearly fried.

People like him and that man from Duck Dynasty are the lowest of the low.

  6. What a stunted, constipated little man.

  7. Yet another example of these 'celebrities' who think it's fine to denigrate gay people.

    Bring on the backlash......

I fail to see why any attention should be given to someone who has had more blows to the head than Tebow.
    Hollyfield is a fool.

  8. I really didn't expect intelligence or enlightenment from an old ex-heavyweight boxer. Shame how people live up to stereotypes. How boring.

  9. Ha! This isn't USA, he will be EATEN ALIVE for such comments!

  10. No George. It isn't.
Being a boxer is a choice. Being gay isn't. If it were simply a matter of choice why would thousands of young kids have taken their lives because of being stigmatized and ridiculed by people like yourself? If it were as simple as making a choice rather than ending their own lives wouldn't they have simply chosen to live as hetero?

Educate yourself on LGBT issues before your ignorance causes yet more harm. Is this really the person you want to be for the rest of your life?

  11. This is the guy who made the choice to have 11 children by six different women. He then made the choice not to support those children financially or emotionally. And after that the choice was made for him to punish him by taking away his driver's license. Why would someone who has made so many bad choices feel the need to pass judgement against anyone? There should be something in the Bible about being a responsible and present parent.

  12. I think that, just like A&E and the Duck people, if they are going to have Evander on their show, they need to let him say what he wants to say.

If they don't want to be associated with those remarks, they need to dump him immediately. If they aren't going to dump him, they have no business lecturing him.

That said, it was an entertaining lecture. But it should never have happened.

  13. Well Andy I wonder what the numbers would look like if white people didn't have a long history of killing people of color.

    On topic he's an idiot.

  14. Only those who aren't completely straight say that being gay is a choice.

  15. How would he know that it's a choice, unless he's gay and he made a choice to live a "straight lifestyle".

Someone should ask this ignorant moron when he chose to be straight.

  16. The girl was very smart trying to warn him about the topic and his views without chastising him.
Yet another Big Brother contestant who lets their guard down and reveals their true selves to the viewing public. I think it is good to show people the ignorance that is held and spoken and then shown as unacceptable behaviour in society.

  17. bigotry is the only choice reported in this story, and it's sad.

once respected, now he's disgraced. i hope someone with sense speaks truth to him soon, before the brain damage permanently sets in.

  18. He is clearly guilty of having a mans lips covered in lipstick around his cock. And it was the best he ever had. Guilt makes people carry on this way. Scum.

  19. Oh my god. He's dumb. Whatever.

There is so much more amazing things to spend your energy on.

    So let's do.

  20. And we are to take moral advice from a third-rate blancmange-brained fornicating child-support dodger?

Bugger off back to Alabama baldy. Jesus may love you, but we don't.

Thankfully, ALL people have rights here.

  22. Um...who the HELL cares what this pugilistic ass while thinks anyway? Who is Evander Holyfield anyway?!?!

  23. Homosexual behavior is a choice. You can choose to be chaste or you can choose to be non-chaste. However, homosexual orientation is as innate and non-choice as any other orientation.

  24. Disappointed to see this, I think he needs to learn to read and educate himself.

  25. ...and in a few days '(he NOW has our attention) he´ll say he didn´t mean THAT and offer a sorry! and the World will forgive and hopefully forget
