Colbert's Olympics Reporter Buddy Cole Penetrates Sochi's Gay Underground: VIDEO

Stephen Colbert's Olympics correspondent Buddy Cole (Scott Thompson) penetrated Sochi's gay underground to pay a visit to Mayak, the city's gay nightclub and have a talk with his owner.

After a brief discussion about Putin's non-traditional relationships with animals and his propensity to bare his nipples in public, Buddy Cole decided he might stay awhile, but chose to cover his own nips up.

If you missed Cole's previous report on the gay extremist threat to Sochi find it here, and don't miss his visit with the U.S. speedskating team.

  1. Just like Scott Thompson, that skit was mildly funny in 1985.

  2. Buddy Cole is a splendid example of classic gay humor. His performances operate on many levels simultaneously, and will totally go over the heads of those who are more comfortable with jokes or slapstick, or who think irony is what you do to dress shirts.

His trip to the protest zone in Sochi was amazing - and brave. His whole trip to Sochi is brave. I admire the Colbert staff enormously for doing such a thing, but Scott Thompson most of all for being so out there.

Scott Thompson is a hero to me - he's always been much more subversive and courageous than most queer activists I know. I'm so glad to see him back on TV.
