Katherine Heigl Would Like Help Funding Her Cinematic Gay Wedding: VIDEO

Heigl

Grey's Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl and the independent filmmakers behind a new film called Jenny's Wedding are crowd-funding its post-production in a newly-launched Indiegogo campaign.

Says Heigl: "This film is about a young woman's journey to live the life that is right for her and live it proudly. It is a project that I'm so passionate about and grateful to be a part of."

The producers are seeking to raise a total of $150,000 by March 28th to fund music, titles, color and sound, and the campaign's  perks include behind-the-scenes footage, signed screenplays, advanced screenings with cast and filmmakers, retweets from Katherine Heigl and the actual wedding dress Heigl wears in the movie.

Through an arrangement with From The Heart Productions, all donations to the campaign are tax-deductible, with a portion of the proceeds going to PFLAG Cleveland (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays).

Check out a plea from Heigl and the filmmakers, AFTER THE JUMP...

  2. Huh. She made that much in a WEEK on "Grey's". Either times are tough for our princess or she is crying poverty to these poor (in all senses) filmmakers subjected to working with her.

  3. Just not "passionate" enough to fund it herself...?

  6. I wonder if the script is actually good, or just well-intentioned? There can be a huge difference.

  7. She's talented. She was great on seasons 1-3 of Grey's. Her film choices have not been so great though. Sounds like this one has a chance. Benefit of the doubt FTW.

  8. Ms Heigl is the WORST of parasites - Google her for those not in the know... Many of us do know from personal experience.

Gay rights are not even on her radar -

  9. Well, contrary to popular opinion thus far, I love Katherine and hope this movie and the pilot she is filming will give her career a resurgence. Yeah, she screwed the pooch leaving Grey's Anatomy but she is talented and I wish her success. She looks great, too.

  10. why do people hate her? I don't like her because she smokes, but other than I don't see what all the name calling is about?

  11. There have been quite a few reports on the internet from Hollywood sources that Miss K.H. was very difficult to work with on movie sets, after she graduated from T.V. to the big screen. She screwed up, the movies were not that good and people don't want to work with her again.
It speaks volumes when she is trying to get funding from the public for her latest movie.

  12. I like Katherine & I am glad she is considering a film about a gay subject matter but didn't she earn a few million dollars working on Grey's Anatomy ? She was on the show when it was number one in the TV ratings so don't tell me she didn't earn a fortune.

WHY is it ok for these rich 1% people to keep coming to us and asking us to fund their projects that they will make more money off ?
If she believes in this project so much she needs to fund it herself !

  16. If all else fails....reach out to the self loathing gays! Lol, only gay people can still like Heigel after numerous people have commented on what a living B*TCH she is.

Tristram, google is your friend. She's so infamous that you can even read about her on Hollywood Reporter and Deadline; not just blind vices or message boards.

She used that dumbass Knight, pretending she gave a crap about gay people when she actually loathed Isiah and was campaigning to get rid of him for a long time. Funny once it happened, you barely saw her again with Knight nor did she lend her name or $$ to any gay rights initiatives.

  17. She's worth about 50 million and she wants your money to "help her"....

  18. Plus her "acting" is painful to watch. Horrible inside and out, it seems.

  19. It's disgusting what celebrities spend and support when there are so many people struggling, and when we have what, 200,000 GLBT kids living on the streets in the US ?

What kind of media whores support this kind of airhead ?

    Oh yeah. I forgot.

  20. Anybody but her, says I.

  21. It's irritating that these Hollywood folks keep turning up on Indiegogo and Kickstarter begging for our money. IG and KS are supposed to be for "hoi palloi," those people who aren't celebrities and don't have access to funding, connections, and the PR machine. If Katherine Heigl feels so strongly about this project, she should pour some of her own damn money into it.
