Elton John And David Furnish To Marry

Now that marriage equality has finally arrived in England and Wales, Elton John and David Furnish are starting to make plans to get married later this year. The two have been in a civil union since 2005.

Writing in Attitude magazine, Furnish explains the significance of marriage to his family:

John_Furnish"When it was announced that gay couples were able to obtain a civil partnership, Elton and I did so on the day it came into law.

"As something of a showman, [Elton] is aware that whatever he says and does, people will sit up and take notice -so what better way to celebrate that historic moment in time.

"Our big day made the news, it was all over the internet within minutes of happening and front page news the next day."

He continued: "Elton and I both think there is a massive difference between calling someone your 'partner' and calling them your 'husband'. "Partner' is such an impersonal word and doesn't adequately describe the love we have for each other.

"When Zachary and Elijah are grown up and having children of their own, they will – hopefully – be living in a world where everyone can be equal, when being married isn't about whether you're straight or gay, but simply about being human."

Furnish told the the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he and John plan to ditch plans for a big bash:

“We do like big parties,” Furnish said. “Over eight years ago, we had 650 people on the 21st of December at our house in Windsor. But with the kids, everything is different. I think what we’ll do is go to a registry office in England in May, and take the boys with us, and a couple of witnesses.”

The two plan to tie the knot in May.

Will David be checking out hot guys on instagram as per usual on the big day?

He seems to have a thing for those starfish muscle mary types that can’t pay their rent.

Elton John is a nasty trans woman who embarassed the gay community for so long just like other trans creatures which occupied the gay movement untill the last few years!

Why are constantly subjected to news about these icky people. Elton John was an enjoyable pop star inn the 1970s.

    Now? Yuck.

Good for them, but couldn’t they have waited for an announcement (maybe just for a week or so) and let the ‘regular folk’ getting married in England and Wales enjoy their time without trying to steal the limelight. Would it kill them to to keep their lives a little more private? They are so yestergay.

Sir Elton John first supported civil unions in the United Kingdom when they were initially proposed. As his thoughts evolved on the matter, he, then, began publicly supporting gay marriage. He participated in fundraisers to raise money to advance the cause of gay marriage. He has done more by both his activities and his example to promote gay marriage than all the pathetic, little losers who are making hate comments about him here.

Elton John of “Marriage” in 2008.

““I don’t want to be married,” he told USA TODAY’s Donna Freydkin at a New York fundraiser last night. “I’m very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership,” said John. “The word marriage, I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships.”

As a fellow British Columbian and a Canadian I have always considered David and Elton married as according to our rightful laws and practices in David’s home and native land. :)
Perhaps the best musical experience I have ever had was watching Elton sing for his mother in law in Kelowna BC.

This is a little off topic, but speaking of gay musicians:

I just realized that Steve Grand’s Kickstarter funding ends later tonight. It just surpassed the $300,000 mark and becomes the third-most successful music campaign in Kickstarter’s history.

I just funded it $10, which will get me the download and a thank-you note from Steve. (Higher amounts can get you anything from pictures to a song composed for you).

I would love to see the “All American Boy” get enough to seriously market this thing.

People evolve Elton also said he never wanted kids. They realize since having kids that they want marriage.

There may be a wrinkle ion their plans. I have been told that tghey cannot get married on top of their Civil Partnership. It isa a long process todissolve the partnerfship, and then be free to marry. Recognizing this, the Government is preparing legislation that will allow Partners to `trade up` to married status without needing any ceremony. That legislation will be rushed but will not happen overnight …
