FOX News Host Challenges Rick Santorum on His Anti-Gay Views: VIDEO

Cavuto and Santorum

Former Senator Rick Santorum appeared on Fox News to promote his book Blue Collar Conservatives, and during the discussion host Neil Cavuto brought up one of the arguments set forth in the book that marriage helps stave off poverty and how a family unit is good for the economy. Cavuto questioned Santorum whether or not that argument applied to married gay couples as well, at which point Santorum began evading with all of the grace of an inebriated hamster.

Cavuto brought up the very valid point that the questions he was asking could come up in a race. But Santorum insisted on bumbling his responses to a very unimpressed Cavuto.

  1. What a tool. Fortunately more and more people are realizing that his views don't make sense in today's world. Not enough for us to declare victory, but we have definitely turned the corner on this issue.

  2. Ahhhh..the tools of the wing nut party aka the republithugs. And Santorum is forever linked with the definition of his last name by Dan Savages online campaign. Obviously ,Santorum is still trying to stay relevant(which he isn't) and will say/do anything to keep his desperate grasp on his quickly fading 15 minutes of fame. And he probably watched hard core gay porn when the Mrs. is asleep.

  3. Oh good, now I'll throw up my Ben & Jerry's and consider my diet still in tact...thanks Neil...thanks Rick. Two of my personal favorites. Binge...watch this...purge. How sweet....and I'm still a 32.

  4. that was mild for santorum. sounds like doesn't want to address gay issues head-on anymore.

  5. That hamster business really just made my night...LMAO.

  6. Who are these people? I know liberals and conservatives in my generation and they are completely for gay rights. GOP, you dead.

  7. This was Rick Santorum's idea of not coming across like a colossal bigot? I wonder what the unfiltered version sounds like.

  8. @woody : I thought he was avoiding the issue because his statement about the economic advantage of marriage obviously applies regardless of the genders of the two spouses. It's a classic case of spouting something because it sounds good without realizing that it contradicts one's other beliefs, and then trying to cover up by talking about something else.

  9. What is the world coming to when even FOX News is on your side?

    Posted by: Michael | May 7, 2014 10:20:15 PM

  10. The host didn't really do anything to challenge him.
"What if your mom and dad are the same sex?" is a nonsensical question. It's like asking someone who's against interracial marriage, "What if your two white parents are different races?"
A better retort would have been to remind Frothy that the stablity of a couple and stability for any kids they're raising are beneficial regardless of the gender of the couple.

  11. It's rather painful watching losers losing… constantly.

  12. What a fool! There are so many children languishing in foster care with no stability.
I wish someone would send him the DVD.. "The Right to Love an American Family." The Leffew family are great friends of mine.. I am sorry this moron did not grow up in a family like theirs. If he did he would not be a bigot....

  13. So he wrote a book called Blue Collar Conservative? Since when has Ricky Boy been blue collar?

    Posted by: Jack M | May 8, 2014 7:57:42 AM

  14. Because, you know, Jeebus.

  15. So many jokes that write themselves.

His argument that restricting equality to same sex marriages somehow strengthens or improves opposite sex marriages, has already shown itself to be a huge joke.

  16. While it might seem that Fox News is going to bat for gay people, it could be just a coincidence. Right now the billionaire faction of the Republican Party is trying to regain some of the power the religious fanatic wing is holding. The billionaires realize that he anti-gay thing has become an albatross.

So, discrediting Little Ricky Santorum may serve the purposes of the billionaires who own Fox News.

  17. @STEVE RIDER: There's only one billionaire who controls FOX News and that's Rupert Murdoch.

As for Frothy, we must always remember that Ricky is the man who proudly brought home his wife's miscarried fetus to his children so they could all spend the night together holding and coddling the thing.

Rick Santorum is a very, very sick (and closeted, btw) man.

  18. Former GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum.... does not realize that the operative word here is "Former." He's had his fifteen minutes and even a Fox News interviewer is giving him a hard time.

He should be disappearing soon from the major channels news panel shows. Unless they have an empty seat and no time to fill it then his silly ass will do.

  19. I've done the math and when my partner and I marry, we'll have the privilege of paying an additional $5,000 in taxes on an annual basis. Sounds like it's good for the government's "economy" at the very least.

  20. Neal is probably good friends with a certain gay anchor at Fox.
