Prom Date's 'Good Morning, Boyfriend' Is a 'Little Monsters' Inspired Gay Synth Love Story: VIDEO

Screen Shot 2014-08-10 at 3.30.29 PM

New Orleans synthpop collective Prom Date has just released the video for their new single "Good Morning, Boyfriend," a gay love song of sorts. Bonus points go to the lead singer for being a really cute bear.

The Truth About Music writes:

With its thick, bouncy bass, swirling effects, snappy percussion, solidly tight three-part harmonies and interweaving backing vocals, the track builds on the deliciously danceable synth pop of its predecessor ['X My Heart']. As for the video, the band pay homage to Little Monsters, using the 80′s comedy flick to drive home a message of self-acceptance.

Check out the video (and their first single too), AFTER THE JUMP...

Prom Date’s full-length album Portraits is set for release August 5.

Canadian Magazine Receives Human Rights Complaint After Publishing Matt Barber Letter

Staver

The Newfoundland Herald's recent publication of a two-page anti-gay letter to the editor by hate leader Matt Barber has prompted some readers to file a human rights complaint against the Canadian entertainment magazine.

The column, "The Coming Christian Revolt," railed against LGBT rights, compared progressives to murderers, and warned of a Christian revolution against the increasingly "unconstitutional, immoral and unjust government" rule.

CBC reports:

Western Pride NL member Kyle Curlew, who initiated filing the complaint, said his "jaw dropped" when he first saw the two-page letter.

"I couldn't even believe that it was published in the Herald. It was a rallying call for people to stand against LGBT rights. Essentially, hate propaganda," Curlew told CBC.

Curlew said after reading the letter, he decided to take the matter to police.

"We filed a human rights complaint under C-46, Section 19, which is 'propaganda and the incitement of hate towards an identifiable group.' So we are hoping to press charges."

The Newfoundland Herlad's managing editor Pam Pardy-Ghent told the CBC that the magazine has received more feedback on Barber's letter than with any other previous matter or topic and plans to further address the matter soon.

She said:

We will be responding to this issue – and running many of the responses we have received – in the next, and in future editions of The Newfoundland Herald. While free speech is very important to us, being responsive and responsible to the people of this province is as well."

James Franco posted an photo today in his role as ex-gay activist Michael Glatze for the upcoming film Michael. The movie tells the story of Glatze, the founder of the (now shuttered) gay twink magazine XY and the short-lived publication Young Gay America who went "ex-gay" and became a poster boy for that movement.

Wrote Franco:

Last month, it was reported that Zachary Quinto had signed on to play the former boyfriend of Franco’s character. Emma Roberts and Chris Zylka will also star.

The film, produced by Gus van Sant and directed by Justin Kelly, is based on “My Ex-Gay Friend,” a New York Times Magazine article by Benoit Denizet-Lewis. You can read the article HERE
