Wisconsin Supreme Court Upholds State's Domestic Partner Registry

WisconsinWisconsin's Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that domestic partner registry does not violate the state's ban on same-sex marriage, the AP reports:

Democratic lawmakers enacted the registry that provides limited benefits to same-sex couples in 2009, three years after Wisconsin voters approved a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

In the five years since, Wisconsin and the nation have seen "a monumental shift in marriage equality," said Katie Belanger, president and CEO of Fair Wisconsin, the state's largest gay rights organization.

In June, a federal judge declared Wisconsin's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional. That case will be heard before the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals on August 26.

  4. @Rick/Ceem, I have a friend who lives in Portland named Rick who has your curmudgeonly attitude. You aren't by any chance a "Bradley Step-mom" are you?

Transgendered individuals have it harder than us and then maybe easier after. They have a huge expense in time and money to get to a place where their outside matches their inside. I wrote a letter to my family and was done.

Once they've transitioned, those that are not same gender attracted, can already get married everywhere, as they'd have ID that would show their internal & external gender. Sure, some idiot clerk might make a big deal about it, but they'd get the license. Those that ARE same gender attracted [male to female who wants female partner or female to male who wants male partner] would be in the same boat as the rest of us.

I assume you mean that we'd be further ahead if we didn't include transexual, transgendered, queer and questioning people with us. I'm sorry, but I'd rather figure a way out to toss the TROLLS out of the boat and let you wallow in your own misery until you die alone.

I know that last sentiment isn't at all pc. And I haven't come up with any GOOD way to toss them out. Rick/Ceem hasn't come up with any good way to toss out anyone he doesn't like either, because there ISN'T one. The Contemptables are already accusing us of leading to polygamy [which there is SOLID evidence for in both the Bibble [sic] and throughout history], incest, pederasty and zoophilia [beasteality being denigrating to the innocent animal]. People like Conchita Wurst, like the drag queens of the Stonewall Riot, have done as much or more to move acceptance of our community into the mainstream than any closeted TROLL ever did.
