Summer is preparing to kick into full gear and for many of you that means a trip to Provincetown, Massachusetts at the tip of Cape Cod where the salt air, sandy beaches, delicious cuisine, gay nightlife, and wealth of performers provides a vacation experience like no other.
At the hub of all the action is Provincetown's iconic Crown & Anchor Inn, the waterfront hotel and entertainment complex which not only features the town's largest nightclub and video bar, but an award-winning piano bar, leather bar, cabaret and year-round Central House restaurant which welcomed a new chef this year (more below).
While the Crown & Anchor has literally hundreds of events in June, July, and Auguest, here are just a few of the entertainers, parties, and memory-making moments awaiting you at the Crown for the 2015 season.
INDEPENDENCE 2015
From Thursday, July 2 to Friday, July 10, the Crown's nightclub Paramount once again hosts Independence 2015, an international DJ line-up including JustCircuit's DJ of the Year 2014 Alain Jackinsky, Barcelona's Ivan Gomez, and circuit favorite Abel. The Freedom Beach Party this year features DJ Roland Belmares.
BROADWAY STAR POWER
Also appearing at the Crown during Independence week is original ‘Dream Girl' Jennifer Holliday for three live concerts on July 5, 6, and 7, back to the Cape for the first time in 20 years!
And Holliday is not the only Broadway star hitting Provincetown this year. Stage and screen icons Bernadette Peters, Shirley Jones, Linda Lavin, and Barbara Cook are scheduled to appear along with Tony-Award-winning Kinky Boots star Billy Porter and Tony nominee and Smash star Jeremy Jordan, who is making his Ptown debut!
There's Broadway star power every week of the summer – find out who will be here during your visit and get your tickets HERE!
HOT NEW CHEF AT THE CENTRAL HOUSE
Executive Chef Michele Ragussis is the new chef at the Central House. Ragussis was a final four finisher in the Food Network series Food Network Star, cooking under Bobby Flay, and has come to town with a menu sourced locally with responsibly-raised and grown ingredients that reflect the changing seasonal calendar of Cape Cod. The wine list, curated by Sommelier Peter Miscikoski, features small production wines and lesser-known international varietals.
Enjoy a pre-show meal here for one of the Crown's shows and they'll have an up-front seat reserved for you so you can relax and enjoy your dinner.
On July 12th during Bear Week, the Crown welcomes NYC's famous underground party Brüt, for a Leather Masquerade with DJ Dan Darlington (pictured).
Get a taste of Darlington's dark, dirty House beats and seductive vocals as the bear crowd descends on Commercial Street. Darlington is also behind the BARCODE parties in Chicago and has played Beatbox (SF), Manhole (Chicago), and Rock Bar, Gym Bar, and the Fire Island Pavilion in New York.
MEN ON STAGE
On Friday, June 26, Friday July 17, and Saturday August 29, Jonathan Hawkins returns in concert accompanied by Doug Repetti. Hawkins and his “tour de force voice” are back after starring in the New York premiere of London's stage hit Legacy Falls.
Doug Repetti also teams up with Yaron Spiwak (below) for an interactive night of songs and requests on dueling pianos for three nights in June on the 7th, 14th, and the 21st.
Finally, producer Josh Schonewolf brings the sexy as BOYlesque, an all-male burlesque revue featuring hot men, naughty performances, and moments of pure male magic comes to the Crown on July 22 with showdates on August 6, 13, and 27, with a finale on September 3.
