While doing promotion for Magic Mike XXL, Matt Bomer got asked some strange questions about the “gay community,” and he didn't hesitate in letting his interviewer know they made him uncomfortable.
Alongside Donald Glover, Bomer sat down with Dulce Osuna of HolaHollywood.com to discuss Magic Mike. Things started off without incident, but soon Osuna's questions turned to the topic of Bomer's husband. Osuna started asking whether Bomer would “practice” the film's provocative choreography for his husband, and the actor deflected by saying how tired he would be at the end of the day — even mentioning his children to give Osuna a hint.
Osuna attempted to push the question again, and then tried a different topic, asking Bomer if the “gay community” is harder to please than the general population in terms of movies. Bomer bristled, saying:
I don't know. I mean, why would I ever try to boil down an entire community into a yes-or-no question? Would you feel comfortable if I said ‘Are women harder or easier to please?'… One of the things, I think, you learn from this movie is that everybody is different and it's all about communication and a dialogue between individuals. Get rid of the labels, get rid of the shame, get rid of the stigmas and just be your most authentic self.
Check out the whole video below, Bomer's above comment begins around the 2:40 mark.
