Manhunt Responds to Account Cancelation Over McCain Donation

I've updated yesterday's Manhunt/McCain post with an email from one of our readers who canceled his Manhunt account received from them. It reads:

It's not representative of Manhunt the company, of course. Only Manhunt's owner Jonathan Crutchley, who is raking in millions of dollars from gay men around the world and donating some of it to help elect a presidential candidate who opposes same-sex marriage and adoption by same-sex couples, supports "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell," and opposes ENDA. He has also also said he doesn't know whether or not condoms prevent the spread of HIV.

Nebraska Wrestlers Kicked off Team for Posing Nude on Gay Site

Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan, two nationally-ranked wrestlers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, have been dismissed from their team after a UN gossip site revealed the two had posed nude in solo shoots and videos for the fratmen.tv website.

Said coach Mark Manning: "The history of behavior of these men, including the current matter, does not reflect the standard of excellence we aspire to on and off the mat. We have outstanding student-athletes in our program and we will move forward in a positive manner toward our goals. I want to personally apologize for any embarrassment that may have been caused for our athletic department, the university and our fans."

According to fratmen.tv owner John Marsh, the two had both indicated to them that they were hoping to continue with their college wrestling careers. At this point they'd have to apply to the NCAA at a different school to do so.

Said Marsh: "If Nebraska is going to be pigheaded and kick him off unreasonably, there has to be another wrestling program that's going to want him." Of the money they earned on fratmen.tv, Marsh said: "It's not money that they would be making working as a waiter. They get well-compensated. It's better than beer money...I'm in my mid 40s, and my generation has a stigma about porn. The kids, the generation of the student-athletes, don't have that stigma. They really don't care. They've come from a Paris Hilton, Tommy Lee-Pamela Anderson sex tape generation, Myspace pages. The shame and stigma aren't there for them. They're mostly worried about what their parents are going to think, because their parents think it's horrifying."

A University of Nebraska-Lincoln gossip blog exposed one of the school's national champion wrestlers, Paul Donahoe, and his teammate, Kenny Jordan, as part-time gay porn models, after anonymous tips were sent to the site indicated that the athletes had posed in solo photoshoots for the fratmen.tv adult gay male site.

According to the Scarlet Project, "Donahoe, 22, is a senior from Davison, Michigan and has been a stand-out on the Husker wrestling team. Donahoe was arrested in April, 2008 after becoming “argumentative” and refused to break up a party being held at his residence on Claremont Street in Lincoln. Lincoln Police took Donahoe into custody and charged him with maintaining a disorderly house. His blood alcohol level tested at .122. The legal limit to drive in Nebraska is .08. Kenny Jordan is a junior from Frankfurt, Illinois. Jordan is a two-time state wrestling champion in the state of Illinois and also a national junior college 133-pound wrestling champion."

UNL wrestling coach Mark Manning released the following statement: "We are aware of the matter and it is being reviewed internally. We will have no further comment until all of the facts of the situation are known." He told the Star Journal: “We’re investigating the situation now, and until we find out further information we’re not going to make a statement into regards to Paul and Kenny being in our program."

George W. Bush: An American President's Portrait in Porn

After the Bush Library reportedly backed out of a portrait they had commissioned from British artist Jonathan Yeo, the 36-year-old artist went forward with one anyway, a collage created from fragments of 100 porn magazines.

The work was unveiled yesterday at London's Lazarides Gallery in Soho.

According to the gallery, "Yeo was commissioned to undertake a portrait of US President George W Bush, but was later told his services were not required. He decided to continue the commission on his own, and Tuesday’s unveiling will reveal the fruit of his labours. In a few weeks time we will be releasing a limited edition screen print of the Bush collage."

Gay Porn Murder Plot Revealed in 21-Page Affadavit

A 12-page affadavit released by investigators details the actions of Cuadra Harlow, Joseph Kerekes, and Sean Lockhart leading up to and after the January murder of gay porn producer Bryan Kocis, in what police say was "a misguided effort to strike it big."

Unfortunately for the killers, "Cuadra was totally unaware that police were taping his every word. Police would not reveal how they did it."

Their plan: "In the movies, Kerekes goes by the stage name Trent and portrays a tough Marine. Cuadra is the baby-faced 'twink' - slang for a young-looking male model with little or no body hair, suggesting an underage boy. Cuadra and Kerekes were still only bit players in the gay-porn world...Cuadra and Kerekes imagined themselves as major players in the twink market. Their most ambitious project was one that would pair two of the hottest twinks on the Internet: Cuadra and a young man from California who went by the stage name Brent Corrigan. That was Sean Lockhart, who was already under contract to Bryan Kocis, a porn producer who lived in Dallas, Pa., just outside Wilkes-Barre."

Not long after the plan was hatched, firefighters responded to a fire at Kocis' home in Pennsylvania where they discovered the murder. Kocis' throat had been slit and he had been stabbed 28 times before his killers burned the body.

Cuadra had apparently shared wine with Kocis, and drugged him. Finally, "Cuadra talked about watching Kocis die. 'Actually, it's sick, but it made me feel better inside. It almost felt like I got revenge.'"

Lockhart reportedly "drove home, upset" when he heard the news.

Gay Porn Models Charged with Murder of Producer

Two gay porn actors have been arrested for the murder of gay porn producer Bryan Kocis in January. Harlow Raymond Cuadra, 25 (left), and Joseph Manuel Kerekes, 33 (right) have been charged with criminal homicide, conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, abuse of corpse, robbery, burglary, theft and two counts of arson. They were taken into custody in their home town of Virginia Beach and are being held at the Virginia Beach Detention Center.

In January, firefighters responded to a fire at Kocis' home in Pennsylvania where they discovered the producer's body. His throat had been slit and he had been stabbed 28 times before his killers burned the body.

According to the Virginian Pilot, "The affidavit claims that the motive for the crime was money. Cuadra and Kerekes, the affidavit says, believed Kocis to be their main rival in the lucrative gay pornography business, and they wanted Kocis out of the way so they could form a relationship with Kocis' main pornography star, Sean Lockhart, who is known in the gay film industry as Brent Corrigan (right)."

The Times-Leader reports: "The investigation took a dramatic turn three weeks ago when investigators electronically intercepted conversations the two men had with Sean Lockhart and Grant Roy in San Diego. Lockhart is a former model for Kocis’ company, Cobra Video, and is a partner with Roy in LSG Media, a San Diego-based company that markets gay pornographic movies...According to the criminal complaints, investigators recorded a conversation near a hotel in San Diego on April 27 in which Roy asked if Kocis 'felt any pain.' Cuadra leaned toward Lockhart and said, 'Don’t worry, he went quick.'"

In February, after investigators had fingered Harlow as a suspect, he told the Scranton Times-Tribune that he did not know Kocis and was "freaked out" that his photo was part of a murder investigation. Guess he had good reason.

Right-wing Porn Marine Matt Sanchez "Bad at Being Gay"

USMC reservist porn star Matt Sanchez, now the right wing's darling, was a topic of conversation last night on MSBNC's Countdown. Max Blumenthal of The Nation spoke about the recent revelations:

And Sanchez vaguely and defensively addressed a few interview questions for blogger Joe.My.God yesterday. Said Sanchez: "There's something about the beleaguered gay psyche that wants to prove to the world that everyone is just as messed up as they are. So, they start off with the term hypocrite and work their way backwards looking for signs of deviant behavior in hopes of discovering some type of bastard kinship." Read the interview. It's rich.

Sanchez is the last person to be accusing anyone of having a "beleaguered gay psyche".

When JMG asks Sanchez directly if he is gay, he dodges the question: "Boyfriends: 0 Fiance: 2 Wife: 1. I'd say I'm pretty bad at being gay." Based on my acquaintance with Sanchez a good 18 years ago, he was pretty good at being gay. Apparently what he's very bad at is accepting it.

ADDENDUM: Salon today published a two-page op-ed piece by Sanchez:

"By the way, as a political minority on the Columbia campus, people are always asking me, 'How can you be a conservative? They're so hateful.' That wasn't the feeling I got when I accepted my award. And it's not what I've been hearing from the conservative community since my 'outing.'"

Ya think? That's the same conservative community that cheered when Ann Coulter called John Edwards a "faggot". Now that his past has been displayed, does Sanchez really think those wingnuts will be welcoming him with open arms?

Adult Film Actor Brett Mycles Dies of Heart Failure

Rob Sager (aka Brett Mycles), who appeared in a number of gay-oriented adult films, was found dead over the weekend of congestive heart failure. He was 29 and starred in films for the production company Jet Set before moving on to become a mainstream fitness model.

Russian Conscript Gives Tour of St. Petersburg's Male Prostitution Row

Wednesday I posted about the claim by a Russian soldiers' rights group that alleges conscripts in the Russian army are being forced into male prostitution by their superiors, who then demand the money they earn from it. CNN takes a closer look at the story, following a 20-year-old conscript/deserter who points out the dismal shacks on the back streets of St. Petersburg where the alleged prostitution took place.

So Russian soldiers are forced into gay prostitution by force, while some American soldiers are driven there by need.

Owners of Fellini's La Dolce Vita Sue Gay Porn Producer

International Media Films Inc., a Manhattan-based company who bought the rights to Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita, in 2001, is unhappy with the recent release of a gay porn film in two parts that takes its name from the Fellini film. The company is suing the film's producer, Andrei Treivas Bregman (aka Michael Lucas), for copyright infringement.

According to the AP: "International Media Films said it bought 'La Dolce Vita' for its library of classic titles in 2001, treasuring a movie that introduced the term 'paparazzi.' The film follows the life of a tabloid journalist who covers the glitzy show business life of Rome while yearning to write about more serious subjects. It said Bregman's use of the title of its movie was likely to cause confusion among consumers."

Bregman, who recently had his name legally changed to his 'stage name' Michael Lucas, responded:

"This lawsuit is completely out of line. I think they're making fools of themselves. I don't think Fellini would like that. Nobody can be confused and think they're buying Fellini's movie by buying mine. It's a sex flick. This movie's taking place in New York today and has absolutely nothing to do with Fellini's, produced in 1960 in Rome. I'm not hiring [my actors] for their ability to act. That's for sure."

Timothy Greenfield-Sanders' XXX Stops Texans in their Tracks

You may be aware of Timothy Greenfield-Sanders' photo book Thinking XXX which features dual portraits of clothed and naked porn stars. A hidden camera in the home of a Latvian diplomat under investigation for disseminating porn in Belarus revealed gay porn to be among the official's inventory.

Active Duty: Mark Simpson, Details, & the 82nd Airborne

Details scribe Mark Simpson is a natural according to Fleshbot (link NSFW). The writer penned an article in the most recent issue of the magazine detailing producer Dink Flamingo and his video business with soldiers in the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, seven of whom were charged with appearing in Flamingo's gay porn videos. Two have recently pleaded guilty in exchange for plea deals and been sentenced and discharged from the armed forces.

While observing Flamingo film a scene with two of the paratroopers, Simpson was persuaded to join in on the action. The result ended up in Flamingo's film Call of Duty, which Fleshbot easily tracked down via a description on the film's box:

"'Call of Duty' is an interesting video in that it starts out as a video between Kane and his longtime military buddy Jack. During this shoot I allowed a journalist (who must remain anonymous) to sit in on the filming. I'm not su(r)e if it was my sly soothing ways or the pretty ass on Kane and the hot ass on Jack, but eventually our writer get written into the scene and all hell breaks loose."

While Fleshbot has a screen cap from the video in question (link NSFW), what they didn't have was a transcript of the article, which coincidentally I read last night. I've transcribed an excerpt in which the writer Simpson details how he was persuaded to live what he was researching. Doesn't sound like it took much arm-bending:

I asked him how he solicited the talent. "Well, mostly these days it's word of mouth. But in the good old days I would go up to them wherever I found them, including Wal-Mart, and say, 'Have you ever thought about modeling? You have a wonderful face,' and hand them my card." Would he target only men who were by themselves? "Nope. Often I go for the best-looking one in a group. He's usualy the leader, and if you get him, then the others come along too. Plus, you're flattering a guy by approaching him in front of his friends and telling him how good-looking he is." I meekly suggested that to many people it might seem like a very brave thing to do, soliciting a trained killer like that in broad supermarket light, often in front of the guy's buddies. "It's not brave," countered Dink. "You know what it's called, honey child?" he purred, suddenly slipping out of his low, businesslike voice into his Mae West-meets-Truman Capote drawl, cupping his budding man-breasts. "H'mmm? I'll tell you what it's called! It's called lack!...of!....sense!"

But Dink said he had never had an ugly reaction to his pick-up attempts. He is a very charming, persuasive man. Like the military, Dink knows that where guys are concerned the most persuasive thing of all is camaraderie, something I experienced firsthand when he invited me to observe him shoot a movie that night.

As I sat on the sofa watching Jason and Carl perform while I hid behind my notebook, Dink started suggesting, first in jokey fashion, then more seriously, that I join in. "Just for ten minutes or so. It would be great for your story."

I laughed it off— "Oh, I couldn't, I'm English, after all." But soon the guys too started egging me on.

"C'mon, man," Jason implored, like someone inviting you to arm wrestle or to a drinking competition. "Show us your uncut English cock!"

And almost before you could say "God save the queen!" I was stripping down to my foreskin.

Some might assume that I did this because I was unprofessionally aroused by the prospect of joining two naked paratroopers in bed. But regarding this occasion, they'd be wrong. I wasn't turned on. I was terrified. That's the nature of a dare, however: To not join in would have felt....unmanly.

We went through the gay-porn "foreplay" repertoire in almost every Rubik's Cube possibility. But it felt more like horseplay than gay sex. It occurred to me that Dink may have set me up, even coached the guys to entrap me.

"This is very brave of you Mark," he cooed at me as I climbed on the bed.

Lack of sense? In-depth research? Immersing yourself in the story? Whatever you want to call it, I hope Simpson prepared himself for the fallout Dink Flamingo's powers of persuasion have wrought.
