Alec Baldwin Goes After Anderson Cooper For Labeling His 'Toxic Queen' Twitter Rant As Homophobic: VIDEO

Screen Shot 2013-07-24 at 1.23.15 PM

On Tuesday, Alec Baldwin stopped by The Howard Stern Show to discuss, among other things, his Twitter rant last month against a Daily Mail reporter in which he characterized the reporter as a 'toxic little queen' and called on his followers to 'straighten out this f*cking little bitch.'

While on the subject, Baldwin lashed out at Anderson Cooper for posting the following tweet in the wake of the controversy:

"Why does #AlecBaldwin get a pass when he uses gay slurs? If a conservative talked of beating up a "queen" they would be vilified."

Said Baldwin:

"Anderson Cooper has a job to do. And that job is to try to reinforce his credibility in the gay community after the fact that you couldn't get him out of the closet for 10 years with a canister of tear gas. Now he's the sheriff. Now he's running around writing everybody a ticket!"

In an earlier article we reported on, Baldwin attempted to downplay accusations that his rant was homophobic, saying:

"The idea of me calling this guy a 'queen' and that being something that people thought is homophobic...a queen to me has a different meaning. It's somebody who's just above. It doesn't have any necessarily sexual connotations. To me a queen...I know women that act queeny, I know men that are straight that act queeny, and I know gay men that act queeny. It doesn't have to be a definite sexual connotation, or a homophobic connotation. To me those are people who think the rules don't apply to them."

Andy pointed out that 'queen' appears to be one of Baldwin's more popular slurs. In 2011, he made a few headlines with a similar Twitter rant, although that one was directed at an 'uptight queen' Starbucks barista named Jay with an 'attitude problem.'

Zimmerman Juror Speaks to Anderson Cooper: VIDEOS

Ac360

Last night Anderson Cooper sat down for an interview with Zimmerman Juror B37.

In part 1 they cover opening statements, which witnesses she thought were 'credible' (the defense medical examiner), and which  she found not credible (Rachel Jeantel, Trayvon Martin's friend), what it was like day-to-day on the jury, the 911 tapes (she insists it was Zimmerman's voice on the call).

In part 2 he asks what she thought of George Zimmerman, whether she thinks he should have been carrying a gun, and the videotapes in which Zimmerman walked through a reenactment. The juror says she believes Zimmerman thought his life was in danger, and believes Trayvon Martin threw the first punch. She says she felt that both sets of parents said anything a parent would say. She also says she doesn't think race played a role in the case, and it wasn't part of the discussion in the jury room.

The juror had announced she was writing a book about the case, but after hours of outrage on social media for Sharlene Martin of Martin Literary Management LLC to drop the juror, it was announced that a book deal was no longer in the works, via a statement published by Buzzfeed:

“I realize it was necessary for our jury to be sequestered in order to protest our verdict from unfair outside influence, but that isolation shielded me from the depth of pain that exists among the general public over every aspect of this case. The potential book was always intended to be a respectful observation of the trial from my and my husband’s perspectives solely and it was to be an observation that our ‘system’ of justice can get so complicated that it creates a conflict with our ‘spirit’ of justice.

Now that I am returned to my family and to society in general, I have realized that the best direction for me to go is away from writing any sort of book and return instead to my life as it was before I was called to sit on this jury.”

Evan Wolfson And Andrew Sullivan Talk To Anderson Cooper About The End Of DOMA: VIDEO

Screen Shot 2013-06-27 at 4.48.06 PM

Last night, Freedom to Marry's Evan Wolfson and gay blogger Andrew Sullivan sat down with Anderson Cooper to discuss the end of DOMA and what this decision will mean for gay couples, immigration, and the federal government's 'gay exception.'

Said Wolfson:

"Today the Court said that the federal government has to go now from being the number one discriminator against gay couples to putting its moral and legal weight on the side of families, on the side of fairness, and on the side of the freedom to marry. We haven't won all the states yet. We haven't finished the job. But but the momentum this adds will continue to bring us forward and our country closer [to full marriage equality]"

He goes on to talk about the realities of legally married gay couples who reside in states that don't recognize same-sex marriages and the work that is still needed to bring full marriage equality to the remaining 37 states.

"Couples should not see there marriages sputter in and out like cell phone service depending on what state they're in," he said

Andrew Sullivan also chimed in on what the DOMA decision will means for binational gay couples who will no longer be saddled with the constant worry of deportation.

"The whole nightmare is over. They [binational gay couples] can apply for a spousal green card just like a regular human being...if you love someone and want to spend your life with them, the government has no right getting in the way."
