Andy Cohen Forced to Apologize for Calling One Direction 'Twinks'

Appearing on the Today Show just hours after Harry Styles and co had performed in front of their thousands of fans who had queued for days to see them, Cohen recalled the moment when he saw the band in the green room.

He said: "This morning, I went into the normal green room that we typically go into. I barged in, there are all these people in front of us. Oh, it's all the leftover One Direction fans. I barged right into a room of twinks: One Direction! Security was not exactly too tight, with all due respect. I barged right in. It was crazy!"

The term "twinks" is said to be a slang word for young gay men and is deemed to be offensive and derogatory.

Taking to his Twitter page after reportedly getting tweets from One Direction fans who were unhappy with his comments, Cohen apologised saying: "Misused word earlier — I just meant they’re cute. #1D” But he has left his tweet from earlier still on his official page.

Andy Cohen Confronts Joe Giudice About Homophobic Language: VIDEO

Bravo's Andy Cohen confronted Real New Jersey Housewife Teresa Giudice's husband Joe about his homophobia on a "lost footage" extension of the show's reunion program over the weekend, Radar Online reports.

Cohen asked Giudice aboutt remarks he made that one of the show's gay castmembers had a "loose butthole".

"Everyone laughed. I mean, that was funny," interjected Teresa.

"I mean even gay guys tell me it was funny," said Joe.

"Growing up, we always used the word... we call each other, faggot, homo or whatever, that was just our words growing up. doesn't mean anything. We were friends. We call each other names all the time, it doesn't mean we're gay. We just would use that word for whatever reason, that just was in our vocabulary... It was just a word that everybody used. Now, I don't use the word anymore because it's not appropriate and people don't want to hear that, so I don't use it."

Anderson Cooper Takes Down Star Jones, 'Of All People': VIDEOS

Anderson Cooper invited fellow gay television personality Andy Cohen to play co-host on his daytime talk show today. And the fellas had plenty to talk about, including how Cooper is feeling now that he has officially come out.

Though Cooper doesn't necessarily feel any more free or particularly liberated since coming out, Cooper did mention that he was annoyed — well, his mother was annoyed, and then told him — about former View co-host Star Jones claiming he came out to boost said talk show's ratings.

"I will say and I actually haven't mentioned this, the only thing that did kind of annoy me and actually it annoyed my mom who brought it up to me, Star Jones of all people," he said, before getting appropriately pointed: "I haven't thought about Star Jones in I don't know how long. I was unaware she was even on TV still ... but she apparently shows up on a morning show."

"Out of the blue Star Jones ... said this was a ratings ploy by me to boost ratings." This couldn't be further from the truth, he said, noting that the coming out announcement was made while he was on assignment overseas.

If I was wanting to boost ratings, I would have waited to announce it on 'A Very Special Episode' that would have been promo'd for weeks and weeks and there would have been commercials ... 'Anderson's Huge Announcement.'"

As memory serves, in terms of boosting ratings, I seem to recall [Star] hocking her wedding every single day to get free products when she was on 'The View' and I seem to recall her lying about her gastric bypass surgery and making everybody else lie about it as well. So for her to suddenly emerge out of the shadows and suddenly attack me for this, I couldn't believe it.

Later, Andy and Anderson got to chat up the cast of the new Steel Magnolias TV adaptation, which may or may not have been a dream come true for the boys.
