2008 Emmy Nominations Announced

Nominations for the 2008 Emmy Awards were announced this morning. Boston Legal, Damages, Dexter, House, Lost, and Mad Men, were nominated for Best Drama, while Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, The Office, 30 Rock, and Two and a Half Men, were nominated in the Best Comedy category.

Neil Patrick Harris got a nod for Best Supporting Actor for his role in How I Met Your Mother, and no, Britney did not get a nod for Guest Actor in a comedy series.

You may have caught the NewNowNext awards Saturday night on LOGO. If not, you can catch the entire show here. You may also remember we were giving an award in conjunction with the show for "Most Impactful (video) News Moment of the Year".

The nominees were Jerry Sanders for his turnaround on same-sex marriage, Al Gore for his video on gay rights, Ellen DeGeneres' statement on Lawrence King, Larry Craig and his gay denial press conference, and Sally Kern's infamous gay-terrorist rant.

Towleroad Guide to the Tube #247: Brit Awards Edition

The Arctic Monkeys and Take That each won two awards last night at the Brit Awards: "The Sheffield band [Arctic Monkeys] won the coveted Best British Group award. They also walked away with the Best British Album award for Favourite Worst Nightmare. Take That won Best British Live Act and Best British Single for "Shine", voted for by commercial radio listeners and The Sun Bizarre column readers. Gary Barlow described it as 'unbelievable'."

Mika and Beth Ditto opened the show with a medley of "Love Today", "Standing in the Way of Control" and "Grace Kelly" (above). Below, Kylie Minogue performs "Wow", Leona Lewis performs "Bleeding Love", Amy Winehouse performs "Love is a Losing Game", and Rihanna trots out "Umbrella" another time with The Klaxons.
