Franklin Graham Urges Bigot Conference To 'Not Shut Up' In War On Gay Rights: VIDEO

Held in Orlando, Florida last weekend, the Awakening Conference was a veritable who’s who of hate groups and anti-gay bigots coming together because they are “united by love for our country’s freedom and our faith in Christ.”

This year’s theme was “Rebuilding The Wall.” It’s not clear what the wall represents but given that speakers included Mat Staver, the frankly ridiculous Benham Brothers and Janet Boynes we can safely assume it’s a giant fence of ignorant bigotry holding back a growing tide of common sense and acceptance.

Right Wing Watch reports that the best received speaker was Franklin Graham (above), son of hate speaker Billy.

Demonstrating that this small group of vicious homophobe Christians just hate gay people, Graham Junior railed against pastors and churches for giving up on condemning homosexuality:

“Let me tell you something. A lot of pastors have quit preaching against homosexuality. You know why? I’ll tell you why. Because they are afraid that there may be some man or woman in the congregation whose son or daughter is gay.

“Don’t shut up, guys. You don’t shut up. If the people that are coming after you, ‘yak, yak, yak,’ and they want to run you out of church, then let them run you out of church. Go to another church, let them have that church. I’ll tell you what, God will bless you and he’ll honor you if you speak up and you tell the truth.

“There’s a battle to fight. And the battle, listen, it’s not against flesh and blood, all right? This is a spiritual battle. We’re fighting Satan and his demons and let me tell you something, they have got their way into government, they have got their way into every level of our government.”

Last year, old charmer Graham praised Vladimir Putin for his moral treatment of homosexuals as pedophiles and said that gay people don't "adopt" children so much as "recruit" them.

Benham Brothers Claim They Saved a Man From Homosexuality By Buying Him Cubs Tickets

Wannabe HGTV stars Jason and David Benham, who've become the darling twins of the loony, anti-gay crowd, have found the cure for homosexuality: baseball tickets.

“We had so many people from the gay community reaching out to us and one man in particular from the city of Chicago reached out — and he said things to me that made me lose my appetite," said Said David Benham to a crowd at the National Religious Broadcasters convention recently. "But I simply responded in love."

“After a little conversation back and forth, I found out he loved baseball … and I got him tickets to a Cubs game,” Benham continued. “He shot me a Facebook post and said, ‘I was not expecting that — and I’ve been thinking a lot about this. I’ve chosen to walk away from my lifestyle.’”

The Blaze adds the story received a round of applause from the audience before the brothers went on to talk about how the nation has begun to "slowly turn our back on God."

Maybe they need to start buying everyone sports tickets?

This Valentine's Day the Benham Brothers Want You to Know Satan Is Behind Your Gay Marriage: AUDIO

Benham Brothers and Pat Robertson

This week, failed reality tv stars and totally not gay brothers Jason and David Benham appeared on The 700 Club to pose with notorious crackpot Pat Robertson and on the American Family Association's radio show "AFA Today" to plug their new book, Whatever The Cost. On the program, the Benhams discussed how evil the gays are, or more specifically, how evil Satan is because he's the one behind all of it since he hates reproduction and love and intimacy and whatnot.

Said David:

Do we have any inclination that [God]’s not going to be removed from one of the three institutions that was in working order before sin entered the world — work, Sabbath and marriage? Those three things God set in place before sin entered the world; Satan is coming after all of them.

And Jason:

[Satan]’s always going to attack sex because the goal of sex is life, it’s life in your marriage, it’s physical life with children, it’s offspring, and the Devil is making war against the offspring of the woman, which means that the Devil hates life. Jesus came to bring life, the Devil, I come to destroy life.

Although...Satan went forth and killed Job's sons and daughters, numbering about 10.

God destroyed the cities of Sodom, Gomorrah, Jericho, and Ai; killed all the firstborn Egyptians; set about 3000 friends and family on each other; killed 250 for burning incense; killed about 14,700 who complained about all the killing; had David kill 15,000 men in Edom; killed about 127,000 Syrians for reasons; killed 500,000 Israelites in a war between Judah and Israel; a million Ethiopians at the request of Asa, king of Judah; and a whole lot more that brings the explicitly numbered tally to 2,821,364 people killed by God, and an estimated total of about 24,994,828 (the flood in Genesis, for example, didn't have an explicit bodycount beyond "the rest of the world").

So....which one is about hating and destroying life again?

New York Times Columnist Apologizes For Taking Part In Anti-Gay Fundraiser - VIDEO

Douthat

New York Times columnist Ross Douthat [top left] has apologized for appearing at a fundraising event for anti-gay litigation group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), reports Media Matters America.

ADF was recently profiled by Human Rights Campaign for its attempts to criminalize homosexuality abroad, most recently in Slovakia and is currently litigating on behalf of a wedding venue in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, that refused to perform a same-sex marriage.

On October 16th, Douthat spoke at the ADF event that aimed to draw attention to a number of popular right-wing horror stories about the threat LGBT equality poses to religious liberty. Douthat spoke alongside the homophobic Benham brothers who recently compared themselves to the victims of ISIS' beheadings because their reality TV show was cancelled due to their extremist statements and views.

Apologizing, Douthat said that he did not know ADF's event was a fundraiser and plans to decline the honorarium he received from the event.

"I was not aware in advance that this event was a fundraiser and had I known, I would not have agreed to participate. I was invited by an events organizing group, not by ADF directly. I understood this to be a public conversation about religious liberty. This is my fault for not doing my due diligence, and I will be declining the honorarium."

Richard Rosendall, president of the Gay and Lesbian Activists Alliance of Washington, D.C., said that Douthat’s decision to take part in the ADF event is disturbing because of the group’s extreme activism and relentless “attacks on equal protection of gay people and families.”  Rosendall added that Douthat’s participation “says unfortunate things about” the journalist.

New York Times Columnist Speaks Alongside The Benham Brothers At Anti-Gay Fundraiser: VIDEO

ADF

Conservative New York Times columnist Ross Douthat recently joined the anti-gay Benham Brothers as speaking guests at a fundraiser for the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a vocally anti-gay group that, as Media Matters points out, "works to defend anti-LGBT discrimination and supported the criminalization of homosexuality." The event took place on October 16 in Denton, Texas and explored the alleged friction between "LGBT equality religious liberty":

The event touched on a number of popular right-wing horror stories about LGBT equality, from the plight of anti-gay bakers and florists, to the outrage over the recent subpoenaing of several Houston pastors. David Benham, who has previously warned that the gay "agenda" is "attacking the nation," urged the audience to take "dominion" of the media and legal system back from the "sexual anarchy agenda":

You'll recall the Benham Brothers lost their HGTV reality show because of anti-gay and xenophobic remarks they made in the past. The pair have also recently compared themselves to the victims of ISIS' beheadings because their show was cancelled due to their extremist statements and views.

Noted activist and columnist Dan Savage highlighted Douthat's presence at the event on Twitter, drawing attention to ADF's advocacy for the criminalization of homosexuality and making reference to prominent out gay journalists public personas:

"Nice friends you've got, @DouthatNYT. So who would you like to see jailed first: @sullydish, @jbarro or @JoeMyGod? Or maybe @DouthatNYT would prefer to see lesbians jailed first? Maybe @TheEllenShow, @ejgraff, and @Rosie could all share a cell, Ross?"
