Singer Alexander O'Neal (above) has apologized for calling Perez Hilton a "faggot" on English reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother, reports The Mirror.

6a00d8341c730253ef01b7c73908b6970b-250wiO'Neal's outburst came after Hilton (right) had been antagonizing the singer by blowing him kisses.

“I know what you want but you’re not going to get it ... you’re going to sit there with that silly ass faggot look on your face,” said O'Neal.

O’Neal later told housemates that although he regretted his choice of words, he didn’t regret using that phrase against the celeb blogger.  Suggesting a threat of violence had the incident occurred off camera, he added:

"He knows well that he couldn't do that out there, but he did that in here 'cos it's safe in the Big Brother house. He taunted me...no man taunts me ever, you don't play with me.

"I apologise to the gay community. I have gay cousins, gay friends, I have people in my family that I love with a passion, if anybody hit them or messed with them the wrong way it's on. God don't make no mistakes.

"For that I apologise, but I never apologise for what I said about him to him ever.”

Although some housemates were supportive of Hilton, others were shocked by his antagonistic behavior towards O’Neal.

Following his apology, O’Neal disappeared into the diary room and didn’t return.  Housemates were later informed that the singer had made the decision to leave the show.

Singer Alexander O'Neal Quits Celebrity Big Brother After Calling Perez Hilton A 'Silly-Ass Faggot' - VIDEO

O'neal

Soul singer Alexander O'Neal has walked away from Celebrity Big Brother UK after receiving a formal warning by producers on Saturday for directing an anti-gay slur at gossip blogger and fellow housemate Perez Hilton during an ongoing feud.

The Daily Record reports:

Tension had been brewing between the pair since early in the morning, when Hilton woke O'Neal with his persistent coughing.

"What the f*** are you coming up here coughing all around me for?" O'Neal yelled.

Later he confided in housemates: "That's what he wants. He's blowing kisses at me ... He wants me to kick his ass."

As the other celebrities in the Big Brother house urged Hilton to keep his distance, he instead followed O'Neal into the lounge room and stared at him silently.

"I know what you want, but you're not going to get it. I know exactly what you want. And in America, you know what you'd get, don't you? You want that now, but you're not going to get it. You're taunting me. You're coming over here, you're following me, you're bothering me," O'Neal said.

"You're not going to say one word. You're just going to sit there with that silly-ass f***** look on your face."

Housemates reacted immediately, with one responding: "No no no no no no no!"

"He called me the F-word, which is incredibly offensive," Hilton said, recoiling.

The Daily Mail adds Hilton went into the Diary Room shortly afterwards to tell Big Brother he wanted to go home because he feared for his safety and was hungry.

Hilton'Hello Big Brother,' he announced. 'So before I go to bed, I want to reiterate that I would really like to go home. I feel very strongly and calmly about this.

'I don't want to be in the house anymore for my own safety. Before I came into the house, I said that the two most important things to me were safety and food. I do not want to fear for my safety and I do not want to go hungry - but now I am.

O'Neal reportedly attempted to make amends with Hilton before his exit but was ignored. Later in the episode, Big Brother announced O'Neal's departure to the rest of the house by revealing a farewell message from O'Neal that read: "To all my housemates, I have had a great experience with you guys and I have mad love for almost all of you."

Ariana Grande Ditched Catholicism for Her Gay Brother Frankie

Grande

Pop princess Ariana Grande has a big "Problem" with the Catholic church's intolerance regarding gays, specifically when it comes to her out brother (and recent Big Brother cast member), Frankie Grande. In a recent interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Grande said that "when my brother was told that God didn’t love him I was like, ‘OK, that’s not cool'."

The Grande siblings have since traded in their rosaries for Kabbalah bracelets. They discovered their new spiritual practice (which famously includes other diva believers like Madonna and Britney) a few years back when checking out a Kabbalah center that had just opened near their home in Florida. Now the singer says it's the key to her success and sense of well-being. “Since then, my life has unfolded in a really beautiful way," she said. "I think that it has a lot to do with the tools I’ve learned through Kabbalah, I really do."

Grande has come to her older half-brother's defense before, notably when he was attacked by Internet trolls over his bad-boy role on Big Brother back in August. Frankie, a singer and showman in his own right, is set to make his Broadway debut next month as he joins the cast of the 80s jukebox musical Rock of Ages

Notorious Big Brother Winner 'Evel Dick' Donato Comes Out as HIV Positive: VIDEO

Donato

In a new episode for Couples Therapy, volatile troublemaker and Big Brother 8 winner "Evel Dick" Donato revealed he is HIV positive - news he originally found out while competing as a returning player during the reality competition's 13th season back in 2011.

Big Brother fans will remember Donato leaving the game on Day 6 that season for undisclosed reasons.

People reports:

Donato was competing on season 13 of Big Brother when producers called him into the house's Diary Room. "They told me that something was wrong with my blood test," he says. "They had done two HIV tests. One had come back positive and the other had come back negative." The show's doctor took more blood. Two hours later, Donato learned the life-changing news. "When they told me, I just went numb," he says. With little explanation, Donato left the show. "They had a car take me from CBS to my mother's house. She was the first person I told."

"My biggest fear was telling my girlfriend," Donato continues. "We had this long discussion, and I figured she would freak out. But she was really understanding about the whole thing. She said, 'Whatever happens, we'll face it together.' She was tested and it came back negative. It was an incredible relief."

Donato doesn't know how he contracted the disease, but he suspects that it happened during unprotected sex with a woman. "People are going to make assumptions about how I got it, and that's okay," he says. "People are afraid to come forward because they're afraid of the stigma of HIV. I'm not gay and I've never stuck a needle in my arm, but at this point, it doesn't matter. We create a stigma around the disease that makes it hard for people to publicly say they have it."

In the end, Donato said he decided to go public with his status becuase his platform as a reality-show villain could help him to encourage fans and viewers to be more aware of HIV, practice safe sex, and get tested.

Is Egypt Surveilling Social Media To Hunt Down Gay People? - VIDEO

Egyptian surveillance

Concerns are mounting in Egypt that authorities will use new online monitoring software to hunt down LGBT people, reports Buzzfeed.

Earlier this month, Egyptian authorities arrested nine men for "debauchery" but later concluded that "the men tested negative for homosexuality."

Using U.S. technology, Egypt is now monitoring online communications, giving the government an unprecedented ability to comb through data from Skype, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, WhatsApp and Viber.

In recent weeks, Egypt’s LGBT community has issued warnings to avoid using Grindr after rumors spread that officials were using the app to arrest gay men.

Although Egyptian officials have said their monitoring of online activity will focus on preventing terrorist attacks, one Interior Ministry official said the current mandate was “much broader”:

“We are looking at any conversation, any interaction, we might find worrying or would want to keep a closer eye on. We are watching conversations between Islamists, or those who discuss Islamism. We are watching communities, which we consider at risk.”

EgyptThe official went on to say that those taking part in “debauchery” or “homosexual acts” would be watched “for the protection of Egypt.”

He added that although he wasn’t familiar with Grindr, there were “dozens of Facebook groups” used by the LGBT community that are being watched.

Gen. Hany Abd el Lateef, a spokesman for Egypt’s Interior Ministry, denied that the government plans to monitor citizens’ private lives.

However, a copy of the tenders issued by the Interior Ministry which specifies the type of online communications it will be searching for suggests otherwise.  The list includes:

  • Blasphemy and skepticism in religions
  • Spreading of rumors and intentional twisting of facts
  • Sarcasm
  • Pornography, looseness, and lack of morality

Providing the service to the Egyptian government, See Egypt is the sister company of the U.S.-based Blue Coat.

Ali Miniesy, the CEO of See Egypt, said that the company had been contracted to provide Egypt’s State Security with the system, and to teach officials how to comb through data gathered from email accounts and social media sites.

He added that although the software can be used to penetrate social media and other software, it is a system similar to that used by most Western governments, including the United States.

According to Eva Blum-Dumontet, an advocacy officer with the U.K.-based NGO Privacy International:

“This new software makes it very easy to target anyone, en masse. The user simply says, ‘I want to look for atheists, or homosexuals,’ and the company gets all the data. It’s extremely easy.

"There is a difference between what you do on social media and what you do in the real world. The concern is that people who are not necessarily our protesting would suddenly be on the radar of the Egyptian authorities because they liked a status on Facebook or retweeted something.”

Egyptian Human Rights groups filed a lawsuit on June 17 alleging that the system used by Egypt “threatens private life and public freedom.”  However, the lawsuit could take years to work its way through the courts, and in the meantime the See Egypt technology will continue to be used.
