Bill Donohue Smacked Down By Fellow Conservative For Charlie Hebdo Remarks: AUDIO

Donohue and Hewitt

We all know that Catholic League's Bill Donohue is a bloviating mass of bigotry, a fact accented by his even viler than usual commentary on the attack on Paris' Charlie Hebdo satirical newspaper. Last Thursday he went onto Hugh Hewitt's radio show to talk about his views, figuring that since Hewitt was a fellow Catholic conservative that he was in good company. He was so very wrong.

Rather than being a person similarly devoid of morals or human decency, Hewitt took a stand against Donohue and took him to task for his hate, saying:

Bill, I’ve often agreed with you over the years, because like you, I’m an orthodox Catholic, went to confession on Saturday, Mass on Saturday night. [...] And I have to say I’m appalled, and I’m embarrassed, and I’m urging you to rethink this.

[...]

You blamed the victim before their bodies were cold. Everyone listening to this show believes that you are blaming the victim before their bodies were cold. It’s deeply embarrassing to me as a Catholic.

Donohue, never one to ever admit wrongdoing in anything and very much of the "You're only either my friend or my enemy" mindset, took to Twitter to give his assessment of how the interview went:

The twitterverse was having none of it, however, and calling a spade a spade...which is, to say, a tool for spreading bullshit.

The interview is a hefty 23 minutes, but the folks at The New Civil Rights Movement insist that you'll be enraptured to the end. It is certainly chock-full of schadenfreude. You can give it a listen AFTER THE JUMP...

Catholic League's Bill Donohue Says Charlie Hebdo Cartoonists 'Provoked' Terrorist Attack: VIDEO

Donohue

Vile, anti-gay activist Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, has wasted no time in defending those behind yesterday’s terrorist attack in Paris, France that left twelve people dead, reports The Washington Post.

B6w0fmUCUAAh4_FWhile the rest of the world gathered at protests last night to condemn the attack on the offices of French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and the #IAmCharlie and #JeSuisCharlie hashtags trended globally, Donohue issued a statement titled “Muslims Are Right To Be Angry” in which he condemned the publication for offending Islam and other world religions.

While Donohue begins his statement by condemning those responsible for “killing in response to insult”, he adds in a big, big “but” by blaming Charlie Hebdo publisher Stephane Charbonnier for his own death:

“What happened in Paris cannot be tolerated. But neither should we tolerate the kind of intolerance that provoked this violent reaction.

“Those who work at this newspaper have a long and disgusting record of going way beyond the mere lampooning of public figures, and this is especially true of their depictions of religious figures. For example, they have shown nuns masturbating and popes wearing condoms. They have also shown Muhammad in pornographic poses.

“Stephane Charbonnier, the paper’s publisher, was killed today in the slaughter. It is too bad that he didn’t understand the role he played in his tragic death. In 2012, when asked why he insults Muslims, he said, “Muhammad isn’t sacred to me.” Had he not been so narcissistic, he may still be alive. Muhammad isn’t sacred to me, either, but it would never occur to me to deliberately insult Muslims by trashing him.”

Earlier today, we reported on a second shooting in Paris as police continued their search for the gunmen involved in the Charlie Hebdo shooting.

As a Christmas gift to world, Donohue unveiled a billboard in Los Angeles last month comparing the experiences of American “Christians” - the ones who spend their lives spreading anti-gay messages - and Christians facing persecution in ISIS-controlled territories.

Catholic League's Bill Donohue: Anti-Gay Christians Are Kinda-Sorta Being Persecuted Like ISIS Victims - VIDEO

Possibly sensing they are a dying breed gasping their last breath of hate, anti-gay religious right wingnuts are increasingly comparing their embattled selves to victims of ISIS.

Latest to the game is Bill Donohue of the Catholic League who earlier this week unveiled a Christmas billboard in Los Angeles that draws a comparison between the experiences of American “Christians” - the ones who spend their lives spreading anti-Christian messages - and Christians facing persecution in ISIS-controlled territories.

Full of Christmas spirit, Donohue also makes it clear that gay people who refuse to take abuse from the religious right in silence are in fact the intolerant ones.

According to Right Wing Watch, in a statement, Donohue said that the billboard is aimed at Hollywood:

“No, the Hollywood moguls who disrespect Christians are not the same as radical Muslims who behead us, but both are full of hate. Moreover, both need to be challenged. Christians are fed up with the barbarians abroad and the bigots at home. It’s time all these bullies learned to practice the virtue of tolerance and the meaning of diversity.”

Happy Christmas to you too, Bill.

Donahue has also excused himself from next year's New York St. Patrick's Day Parade following the decision to allow one corporate LGBT group to participate.

LGBT Irish Groups Apply For St. Patrick's Day Parade Inclusion, Bill Donohue to Boycott Next Year

Controversy continues over New York's St. Patrick's Day Parade's policies, and one group is not taking 'no' for an answer.

Yesterday morning, Irish LGBT groups held a press conference on the steps of the New York Public Library. They say that parade organizers have barred them from joining the parade, allowing only one corporate LGBT group to participate. They also claim parade organizers are excluding LGBT groups under the guise of wait-listing. Quoting from Irish Queers' website:

Last week parade organizers announced a secret deal permitting only the gay employee group of the parade's corporate sponsor [...] ILGO was also told by the parade organizers to “apply to march”. The parade organizers - many of the same people who will review our application now, told ILGO that they were on a waiting list, which was a lie. Applying again is 'our gesture of goodwill.'

The corporate group in question is OUT@NBCUniversal, and sources tell The Journal that the only reason they are being allowed to march is that NBC threatened to boycott broadcasting the parade if the group was not accommodated.

St. patricks dayOne thing is for certain, if gay groups are not allowed in the parade, it will once again be missing out on the life of the party. Take drag queen Panti Bliss (pictured above), for example. If you're Irish, it's likely you know Panti. If not, you may remember her from her viral "It's Oppressive" rant against homophobia. In the picture above, she's tearing it up at the gay friendly "St. Pats For All" parade in Queens. If the parade organizers continue with their policies, Panti and other LGBT people will have to hold a separate, inclusive celebration, once again.

Hopefully next year, we can all come together in support for Ireland.

For proof from 1991-1992 that homophobia at the parade is not a new issue, check out video AFTER THE JUMP...

And in related news, Catholic League whiner Bill Donohue has announced that he will boycott next year's parade because he feels "betrayed."

Writes Donohue:

DonohueFor the past two decades I have been the parade’s most vocal defender of its rules. Repeatedly, I have said that gays have no more been banned from marching than pro-life Catholics have: members of both groups can march with other units; they simply can’t march under their own banner. Why? Because the parade is not about gays or abortion, or anything other than St. Patrick. [...]

My reasons for withdrawing from the parade have nothing to do with Cardinal Dolan or with gays. It has to do with being betrayed by the parade committee. They not only told me one thing, and did another, they decided to include a gay group that is neither Catholic nor Irish while stiffing pro-life Catholics. This is as stunning as it is indefensible.

Catholic League's Bill Donohue Is Worried Gays Won't 'Keep Their Pants On' At St. Patrick's Day Parade: AUDIO

DonohueAnd on the bigot side of the reactions to St. Patrick's Day parade organizers allowing a LGBT organization to march under its own banner is Catholic League president Bill Donohue - a longtime supporter of the ban on gay groups in the parade - who is chiefly concerned with whether or not the gays will "behave" come March.

Listen to Donohue's comments on Michelangelo Signorile's radio show yesterday, AFTER THE JUMP...

Donohue also said that his support for the rule change is "conditioned on allowing pro-life Catholics to march under their banner just as the gay group can"

Earlier this year, you'll recall Donohue applying to march in NYC's LGBT Pride parade carrying a "Straight is Great" banner in a challenge to its inclusiveness following controversy over the St. Patrick's Day parade's gay exclusion. Parade organizers said they would welcome Donohue, but the Catholic blowhard later got cold feet about the whole thing and canceled.

And in another anti-gay response to the St. Patrick's Day parade's recent decision, Msgr. Charles Pope with the Archdiocese of Washington is calling for an end to the parade because it has now been hijacked by "those who think anal sex is to be celebrated as an expression of love."

Bill Donohue Claims NYC Pride Organizers Worry His Bigot Marchers Will 'Overwhelm' Parade: VIDEO

Malzberg_donohue

Last week you may recall that pathetic Catholic League whiner Bill Donohue executed an EPIC FAIL after applying to march in the NYC Pride parade behind a "Straight is Great" banner.

Donohue, who was hoping to make a crass point about NYC St. Patrick's Day parade organizers excluding gays by having his application turned down by Pride organizers, basically turned tail and ran when his application was accepted, and used the sorry excuse of having to attend a mandatory information session about the march (which he redubbed a "gay training session") as the reason for his cold feet.

Now Donohue claims that NYC Pride organizers turned him down because they are worried that there would be SO MANY people who would join his bigot contingent of "Straight is Great" marchers that the parade would be overwhelmed.

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

The "gay training sessions" that Donohue claims take place, are safety and rules sessions required of all participants, according to organizers:

“These trainings address line-up times, check-in locations, our moment of silence, dispersal activity, NYPD safety policies, attire and vehicle/sound permits. It is imperative that group leaders know this information.”

Says Donohue: "Quite frankly, as a straight guy, I don’t go to gay training sessions. I think I’m pretty much an untrainable guy when it comes to this thing."
